Suzuki gz125 marauder engine knock

Hi Chaps/Chapettes,

My 125 Marauder has a knocking noise from the engine from cold which doesn't change when the engine heats up. This knocking is only subdued when the bike is put into gear and the clutch lever is let out until the clutch just begins to bite, then it completely goes away until the lever is pull in again. Is this looking like solely a clutch issue or is something else at fault?

Manual PM'd how old is the clutch

Can't say for sure how old the clutch is but the bike has only done 12,000 miles.

Before you do anything else adjust the clutch cable to take up any slack, and what oil are you using
