Tentuntim Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Bike: Sym Symply 50 2008, 50ccNovice to bikes etc only had license for about 2 months.Just need someone to shed some light for me on my issue, it has also been in for a service recently and a bit of a fix. When i go to pull out it starts really slow takes about 10 seconds to pick up any speed and as of today it struggled to get up a short hill, as i was goin it kept chugging if you like and slowing down.It can also do this chug sometimes on a flat straight. So if i come to a junction or roundabout and come to a stop then when i rev off to go it goes dead slow for about 10 sec and then will pick up speed. If i hold the brake and keep it reved it wont do it so it only does it when i drop speed or stop.had similar issue not long ago but this problem would make the bike cut out when i stopped. No idea what the mechanic at the garage said to me though dident understand what he said, and from what i can make out this is effecting the starting of the bike, i have to use the kick start and that takes a bit to kick in. Got a new battery in it so i know its not that and a new air filter. It also makes a strange noise aswell sometimes to me it sounds like a popping noise.Dont want to take it to garage tell i know i really need to because it costs a fortune. If anyone can help me out would be much appreciated. Breadsnapper Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I can only relate to my car experience as I'm new to bikes too but I guess the principles are the same. Firstly I'd check the spark plug and see what colour it is. Should be a grey/ brown colour. If it's black it's too rich if it's grey it's too lean. Then depending on your spark plug I'd suggest having a look at the carb. Might have a bit of gunk in it or might not be set up right. Does it need choke to start or will it start without it?Dave Quote
Tentuntim Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 its auto choke or whatever they say, does that on its own. last time i had this similar issue i took carb and give it a good clean etc it never did solve the problem though. It had new spark plug in it but i cant actually get to mine because i dont have the tools to do it, and would have to get all the plastics off. Quote
Breadsnapper Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 The popping you mention does it occur when you back off the throttle? As that would indicate it's running lean. Without you having somewhere to start ie looking at the plug it is difficult to say what it is as there are many variables.Dave Quote
Tentuntim Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 it can occur any time, when im speeding up or slowing down even when im just goin steady. Quote
Tentuntim Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 also i forgot to mention aswell, when i stop it does a rumble, and vibrates rather heavy. Quote
