Here’s what Triumph have to say about the upcoming Moto2 racing this weekend:

“It’s great to be racing again and have the season underway. Marco rode very well to climb from third to first on the opening lap, and then again to retake the lead on lap 19 – it was a determined ride for his first win of the year which really kick starts his championship bid in this season half. With an intense run of races now momentum is key, but especially from last weekend to this at the same track. With Marco’s record at the Red Bull Ring it’d be hard to bet against him for a repeat victory, but Remy is doing exactly what he needs to do to maintain his lead of the Championship with a smart ride – those two are the only riders to have scored points at every race this season. It was great too to see another rookie in Ai Ogura deliver his best qualifying performance of the season with second, just 0.02sec ahead of Bezzecchi, which further demonstrates just how even the class continues to be.”

• Marco Bezzecchi’s win sees him become the 5^th different winner in 2021 and gives him three overall using Triumph power
• Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez have three wins each from 2021, so the championship top three (including Bezzecchi) share seven wins from the first ten races between them
• Such is the race day consistency of the top three this year, after the first ten races of the season their average points haul stands at 170 versus 124 in 2019 and 137 in 2020
• Rookie Ai Ogura set his first Moto2 fastest lap, becoming the second rookie to do so this year (alongside Raul Fernandez)

Upcoming race

• This weekend’s Austrian GP is the second in the back-to-back pairing at the Red Bull Ring, where again the weather is forecast to be changeable
• With his victory last weekend, Marco Bezzecchi is now the most successful of the current Moto2 grid at the Red Bull Ring, taking the last two race victories at the venue
• For this weekend, Dunlop will supply a new ‘supersoft’ rear tyre – the softest used in Moto2

• Ai Ogura entered the Triumph Triple Trophy standings with fastest lap in Styria, whilst Remy Gardner closed on Raul Fernandez in top spot, now tied for second with Sam Lowes

About the Triumph Triple Trophy #PoweredbyTriumph

• The Triumph Triple Trophy #PoweredbyTriumph runs alongside the Moto2 World Championship in 2021, recognising that there are more stories of success from a GP than simply the race win, and will award one rider with a Street Triple RS at the end of the season
• Points will be awarded to the rider (or multiple riders in the case of a tie):
• Fastest top speed: 7 points for the fastest rider / riders in case of a tie
• Pole position: 6 points for the rider starting from pole
• Fastest race lap: 5 points for the fastest rider / riders in case of a tie
