Admin Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 QJMotor has refreshed its 600cc four-cylinder sportbike, giving it new bodywork and a new exhaust. (QJMotor/) QJMotor has been making waves in China over the last couple of years with an array of Benelli-based machines, and in 2022, the company will get global exposure by entering the Moto3 world championship. Now it looks ready to back up that sporty image by launching a revamped version of the four-cylinder sport model that was the first bike it introduced back in 2020. Like Benelli, QJMotor is a brand owned by Chinese motorcycle-making giant Qianjiang, and it’s no surprise that the two companies share frames, engines, and running gear across much of their ranges. The QJMotor 600RR is based around the chassis and 600cc four-cylinder engine of the Benelli TNT 600i, but there’s still no direct Benelli equivalent with fully faired styling. (QJMotor/) The updated version of the 600RR, spotted in China in what appears to be production-ready form, right down to the decals and paintwork, gets new front-end bodywork and follows the latest trend in sportbike styling by adding large winglets to the sides. It’s a new look that sits neatly with the company’s new Moto3 entry, which will see the Avintia Esponsorama team rebranding its KTM RC250GP racebikes as QJMotor machines. In addition to the new bodywork, the revamped four-cylinder sportbike appears to have a new exhaust system, hinting at deeper technical changes under the skin. Benelli announced back in 2020 that the 600cc engine would be uprated to 650cc, and some models with the larger motor have already been type-approved in China even though they’re yet to be officially launched. That means it’s likely the updated 600RR will actually be a 650RR. The model will likely have an increased capacity engine as well, to possibly 650cc, hinting at a release in the European market. (QJMotor/) The added capacity may well be part of a move to bring the Benelli-designed four-cylinder engine back to the European market. It disappeared from Benelli’s range in its home continent when the Euro 4 emissions rules were introduced, and since then the regulations have been tightened even further to Euro 5 standards. We’ve already seen several manufacturers opt to increase capacities to combat the Euro 5 limits, allowing them to maintain or increase performance while reducing emissions, so the update might be key to getting the four-cylinder to meet the latest rules. Apart from the winglets, the updated QJMotor machine features new headlights and a resculpted nose section with extended front bodywork. The side panels are also redesigned, covering more of the engine and chassis than the original style, and while the tank is a carryover part, the tail is tweaked to gain a long license plate bracket, replacing the swingarm-mounted design used on the current version of the bike. (QJMotor/) In terms of tech, the existing model is already surprisingly well equipped, with a 5-inch TFT color dash, keyless start, and decent components including Brembo calipers and Marzocchi suspension. Qianjiang has recently announced that it will be manufacturing Marzocchi fork and shocks on behalf of the Italian brand, using a new production facility in Zhejiang. There it will manufacture Marzocchi parts for both China and export markets, though R&D work will continue to take place at Marzocchi’s HQ in Bologna, Italy. View the full article Quote
