Admin Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 The Why We Ride to the Quail will take participants on a three-day ride along California’s coast to The Quail Motorcycle Gathering. (MOTOvational /) Following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Why We Ride to the Quail returns May 12–14 for its sixth charity ride event. The three-day tour from Moorpark to Monterey, California, brings motorcyclists together to raise money and awareness for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF). The ride was inspired by the 2013 motorcycle movie Why We Ride, a film produced by American Motorcyclist Magazine’s 2014 Motorcyclists of the Year award recipients Bryan H. Carroll and James Walker. As in years past, this year’s Quail ride is limited to 100 riders, including many celebrities and riders from as far away as Germany and India, and provides a unique ride through a collection of California coastal views. The tour begins in the lemon groves of Ventura, heads through Paso Robles wine country, moves north up the Pacific Coast Highway to the redwoods of Big Sur, and descends to its final destination in Monterey, where The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is held. “Our film Why We Ride is all about families and the incredible community around the sport of motorcycling,” said Bryan Carroll, producer, and director of the award-winning motorcycle documentary and co-organizer of the benefit. “With such a long pause in events, it feels great to get back on the road to raise funds for PBFT and the amazing families and kids that it serves. After a very successful Sturgis Rally Wrap Party last August, we believe the Sixth Invitational Why We Ride to the Quail will pick right back up where it left off. No community is more giving than motorcyclists. “And now that we are a federally registered MOTOcentric nonprofit [MOTOvational Inc.] we already have support from returning sponsors and some new ones joining us; BMW, Formosa, Vector97, Bagger Nation, Klock Werks, and Road Dirt Motorcycle Media, to name a few.” The official advertisement for Why We Ride to the Quail 2022. (MOTOvational/) Since its inception in 2014, Why We Ride to the Quail has raised over $40,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The PBTF focuses on curing the more than 100 different types of pediatric brain tumors, and says that 13 children and teens are diagnosed with brain tumors every year. The PBTF was deeply affected and influenced by the passing of Why We Ride movie crew member Joseph Northrup’s death from such a tumor. Once at The Quail Motorcycle Gathering, held annually since 2009 at the Concours d’Elegance at Carmel, California, the charity ride will conclude on the event’s main stage, with the presentation of a check to the PBTF for the funds raised. MOTOvational further states in a press release, “As motorcycle riders, we relish any opportunity to hit the open roads and throttle out into the wind. Sharing the road and the ride with friends and like-minded bikers makes it even better. But when we can ride for a worthy cause, when our motorcycles are vehicles for genuine change, that can be the most rewarding ride of all. Why We Ride to the Quail is just such a motorcycle ride.” On the stage of the Quail Motorcycle Gathering. (MOTOvational /) Although limited to 100 riders, additional tickets and sponsorships are available. Plus, MOTOvational says riders will each have their own fundraising teams set up on social media where family, friends, and fans can contribute. And 100 percent of the funds each rider raises will go directly to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. For additional information, including donations or sponsorships, visit MOTOvational.
