Admin Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 The Aprilia Tuareg is the ideal candidate for the tour. The bike produces linear power from the same 659cc DOHC parallel twin used in the RS 660 and Tuono 660. (Aprilia/) After various tours throughout Europe, including Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, and the UK, the Aprilia Tuareg Experience now comes to America for a six-day trip to Baja California. The dual sport tour uses Aprilia’s newest adventure bike, the midweight Tuareg 660 we tested in Sardinia last year, and begins and ends in San Diego, California. The on- and off-road journey will take riders over 1,000 miles as they travel through the scenic landscapes of Ensenada, San Felipe, LA Bay, and Cataviña. The trip, slated for October 23 through 30, 2022, features an Aprilia Tuareg 660 rental, along with all meals and lodging. Aprilia says that riders should have experience off-road. Aprilia’s press release calls the tour “a unique experiential opportunity for those who crave a mix of tarmac and terra firma, and environment that spans from coast to crestline, the Aprilia Tuareg Experience for Baja California is an evocative motorcycle journey that celebrates the best of Baja, with Italian performance and style.” The Aprilia Tuareg Experience will take riders over 1,000 miles in six days from San Diego to Ensenada and back. (Aprilia/) The itinerary: Day 1: San Diego–Ensenada Following a reception dinner in San Diego, participants will ride from the coastline of San Diego through the mountains and into the desert before cutting back through Mexico toward the coast for the night. The ride then heads east through the Otay Mountain Wilderness, with a mix of twisty roads and off-road terrain before arriving at the Tecate border crossing into Baja California. Once over the border, the group will head southwest through the villa de Guadalupe on the Ruta del Vino and into Ensenada, where the first day ends in time to appreciate the unmatched sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Day 2: Ensenada–San Felipe Day two brings riders nearly 275 miles through the San Mártir Mountains National Park, first tracing the steps of the infamous hill climb before lunch at the observatory. The group will then head to the Gulf of California, where the second day of riding will end in San Felipe. The Aprilia Tuareg produces the optimal amount of power for such a trip: 80 hp at 9,000 rpm and 51.6 lb.-ft. torque at 6,500 rpm. (Aprilia/) Day 3: San Felipe–Bahía de los Ángeles The third day follows the east coast and heads to the desert. The group will finish at the southernmost part of the trip at Bay of LA. Day 4: Bahía de los Ángeles–Cataviña Heading north from Bahia de Los Angeles, the tour will navigate across the desert with long and challenging treks off-road. Riders will spend the night in Cataviña. Day 5: Cataviña–Ensenada On the penultimate day, riders will head back to Ensenada via the Pacific coastline, riding roads, asphalt, gravel, and sand. Day 6: Ensenada–San Diego During the trip’s final day, the tour heads through the remaining coastal cities near the Tijuana border. Day six is more of a relaxing casual day of riding and enjoying the landscapes before ending back in San Diego. Limited participants will enjoy some of the coast and desert views in the world during the Aprilia Tuareg Experience.
