Harley Will Jump-Start Its 120th Anniversary in January

Surviving more than 100 years of continuous operation is a singular feat for any business, but in the moto world? You can count the candidates on one hand (and even if it’s missing a few fingers). So when Harley started planning its 120th anniversary of being one of the biggest and best-known brands (moto or otherwise) on the planet, you could excuse the company for wanting to hype the milestone for all it’s worth. It started a couple of months back when we first saw hints about planned events like the Harley-Davidson Homecoming, for 2023, but not many other details were forthcoming. Now, The Motor Company tells us it’s looking to get a jump on the anniversary proceedings with a big rollout of its 2023 motorcycles and gear on January 18; at that time, we’ll also get more info on the Homecoming bash slated to take place in Milwaukee this July. The entire announcement is set to stream live at 10 a.m. CST, at harley-davidson.com.

Judging by CEO Jochen Zeitz’s accompanying statement, it all looks to be the start of an entire year’s worth of festivities tied to the company’s momentous birthday:

“2023 marks the 120th anniversary of Harley-Davidson during which we’ll honor our rich heritage, celebrate with our fans and riding community, and reveal our newest motorcycles and product offerings,” he said. “Please join us as we kick off our 120th anniversary with exciting new model introductions and a peek at what we have in store for the landmark year ahead.”

To be clear, we’ll get to see just the first wave of the new 2023 Harley motorcycle lineup, along with early-release H-D Accessories and MotorClothes gear and apparel, on January 18; those products will be available at Harley dealerships after the announcement.

The product drop is the latest in a series of teasers about celebratory 2023 activities, as Harley has already announced (and launched) The Road to Harley-Davidson Homecoming Challenge, which riders and non-riders can enter to try and win prizes and enter a sweepstakes for the grand prize trip to the Milwaukee Homecoming event. And if past anniversary celebrations—especially the decade-marking ones—are any guide, we’re sure to see the Milwaukee metro area packed with Bar & Shield enthusiasts from around the globe.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Harley-Davidson Homecoming event is set to bring four days of music, food, and moto-culture to various venues throughout the Milwaukee area from July 13 through 16, 2023.
