CFMoto just announced the addition of an all-new 450cc parallel-twin sportbike to its US lineup. The 2023 450SS ($5,499) features full LED lighting, a Brembo front brake, reversible shifting pattern, ABS, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and GP-style winglets—all the things needed for a modern small-bore sportbike.

A liquid-cooled 450cc DOHC engine with a 270-degree crank and a bore and stroke of 77.0mm x 55.2mm produces a claimed 50 hp at 9,500 rpm and 28.8 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,600 rpm. With a claimed curb weight of 370 pounds, the power-to-weight ratio looks promising. With similar pricing and performance, the 450SS is a real competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja 400, Yamaha YZF-R3, and Honda CBR3000R.

Damping is achieved with a non adjustable upside-down telescopic fork and a multi-link suspension with a preload adjustable shock is fitted in the rear. The chassis also features a full fairing with an integrated windscreen, a 3.7-gallon fuel tank, aluminum alloy wheels, and a radially mounted Brembo M40 four-piston caliper with a 320mm single disc up front and a 220mm disc with a single-piston caliper for the rear.
