Admin Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 The 2023 BMW F 900 R is Berlin’s take on the middleweight naked-bike class. Powered by a 895cc parallel twin derived from the F 850 GS powerplant, this BMW competes in the naked motorcycle segment against machines such as the KTM 890 Duke and Yamaha MT-09. In an extremely competitive field, the BMW F 900 R finds middle ground between performance and affordability, entering the market at $8,995. This German naked measured 492 pounds on the Cycle World automotive scales before mounting our in-house Dynojet 250i dynamometer. On our dyno the 2023 BMW F 900 R produced 85 hp at 8,300 rpm and 56.5 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm. 2023 BMW F 900 R Dyno Chart (Robert Martin/) For reference, in 2020 CW measured the KTM 890 Duke R at 406 pounds, producing 106 hp and 63 lb.-ft. of torque. The BMW may fall short in performance compared to the class-leading 890 Duke R, but the F 900 R starts at $8,995 while the KTM costs $12,949 (2023 KTM 890 Duke R pricing). The combination of an extremely linear powerband and flat torque curve certainty hints at the F 900 R’s approachability for those looking for a less highly strung naked that doesn’t break the bank.
