The 2023 Kawasaki KLR650 S utilizes the KLR650 platform that was introduced in 2021. Featuring the same 652cc DOHC liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, tubular semi-double cradle frame, and suspension components, the S model only differs in seat height. To achieve a 2.2-inch-lower seat height, the KLR650 S is fitted with a thinner seat and shorter suspension that reduces travel by 1.2 inches up front and 1 inch in the rear.

On our in-house Dynojet 250i dynamometer, the 2023 Kawasaki KLR650 S, weighing 464 pounds on our automotive scales, produced 36.9 hp at 6,100 rpm and 35.4 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm. Those numbers put the S ahead of the 2021 KLR650 Adventure’s 34.6 hp and 33.5 lb.-ft. of torque figures.
