Husqvarna is bringing back its Norden 901 travel bike for the 2024 model year and endowing it with just minor revisions and updates, mainly of the technological variety. Expect to see the same LC8c engine stuffed into a steel trellis frame and suspended by WP Apex components, but embellished with fresh new colors and a smattering of new rider aids and convenience features this year.

Fresh visuals take center stage this year, with the 2024 Norden 901 getting wrapped in new gray and yellow graphics to highlight the whole neo-retro-meets-rally vibe, with a signature round headlight leading the way. Underneath the bodywork though it’s business as usual, with the same proven 889cc parallel-twin engine taken straight off the KTM 890 Adventure. Indeed, the KTM platform is in full view here, with the light steel trellis frame, adjustable WP Apex suspension at both ends, and Bosch cornering ABS all also back unchanged, along with the power assist/slipper clutch and three standard selectable ride modes (Explorer mode is offered as an option) that help make the model so adaptable and comfortable in unpredictable terrain. The bike we called “a cohesive motorcycle offering a less racy take on adventure-touring while delivering on comfort and style” in our First Ride review still rolls on Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber covering 21/18 tubeless-style spoked wheels.

Husky did tweak the lean-angle-sensitive traction control this year, which the firm refers to as Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC); the aid can now offer 10 levels of wheel slip adjustment (as opposed to the previous nine). There’s a catch though; as before, you need to have the optional Explorer mode engaged to make those rear-wheel slip tweaks and find your traction sweet spot. But with Explorer mode, you’ll also be able to adjust throttle response from the ride-by-wire throttle, so in our view it’s a worthy upgrade. Other updates for 2024 are more convenience-oriented, and include a new USB port on the left side of the dash as well as new hazard lights for emergency situations.

Although the 2024 MSRP for the Norden 901 has not yet been released, we do know that its up-spec, more accessorized brother, the Norden 901 Expedition, will also be returning to Husqvarna’s Travel series for 2024, and is, as far as we know, also unchanged. For reference the 2023 bikes were priced at $14,449 and $15,799, respectively. Both Nordens will be available at dealers near you this winter—though that may vary by region.
