Tinkicker Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 (edited) Snaith classic motorcycle show is taking place this Sunday 15th September. It is an informal, annual gathering of classic bikes, mainly vintage japanese. Usually even a steam powered bike there. The organisers close off Snaith high street to traffic and the show goes ahead. Usually there are around 100 classic bikes there, arriving and leaving as time allows. In addition, modern bikes are also arriving and leaving all day long. Since Snaith is only a couple of miles down the road from me, I will probably take the DT175 for a couple of hours to scoff a bacon butty while ogling the bikes. It is a completely free event, just turn up. No booking or other shennanigans. Of course if an abnormally large number of classic or vintage bikes turn up, they are given priority for parking on the high street, but I never saw any modern bike turned away to park elsewhere at the two events I have attended. Snaith is 10 minutes away from junction 34 of the M62. Vid shows one end of the high street. The event is all the along it right down to the church. For the historians, Snaith is a Georgian rural market town. Town is a bit of a glorification, most would call it a village with a big church. The old market street names are still there.. Beast Fair, Butter Market ect. It still has the original jail cells just off the high street. The church itself is a 12th century Benedictine Priory. If you like history, much to explore, not just the bikes. If I was there when the vid was filmed, I was parked further down, outside the pub.... Edited September 13, 2024 by Tinkicker 2 1 Quote
Tinkicker Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Quick update: Weather is not great out here....and forcast has changed from a sunny morning till 2pm then overcast, to overcast all day with showers. I do not think it will be worth attending. 1 Quote
Tinkicker Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) Absolutely banging it down. I doubt any bikes will be turning up. I have gone from leaving the concours 175 at home... And taking little yeller instead, to not bothering at all. I feel sorry for the organisers. All their hard work undone by crap weather. Edited September 15, 2024 by Tinkicker 4 Quote
