asharin Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 As I have no mechanical knowhow, I'll be needing to get the seals done at a garage (they're split and weeping a little) Any idea how much this is likely to cost me?Doing it myself is not an option, I don't mind doing simple stuff like oil changes, air filter etc This is too complex for me...sad thing is, if it was a computer, I'd have it stripped and repaired in minutes! So anyway...any idea how much it's likely to cost me? Guest Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 when i was quoted to get them done on mine as didnt have the time it was £14 for the seals and it was from a independant mech and he quoted me £15 laboutr but it all depends on the garage and their scales aveage i think os from £15-£25 also that was with forks taken off the bike by myself but in the end i did them myself anyway lol Quote
chrisgatguis Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 i've seen people say that they would charge 90 quid before for this i think it was on this forum somewhere.. Quote
Bill_on_a_bike Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 i've seen people say that they would charge 90 quid before for this i think it was on this forum somewhere.. Doesn't like crazt dealership money to me.Any dealership warrenty on an SR 125 has long since expired, so find an independant bloke who knows what he's doing. Quote
asharin Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 lol, I've checked every garage local, and the cheapest quote so far is £140! Quote
Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 its not that difficult a job, do one at a time, and you'll be fine..just make sure the bike is well supported with the front wheel of the ground, if you get the forks out and then decide not to do it, then you'll probably save a couple of quid as the dealer wont need too, he can just work on the forks and give them back to you..Heres a step by step guide from Chris doing a GS500 sealshttp://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... fork+sealshttp://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/view ... fork+seals Quote
