A lot of polishes contain fillers to hide scratches, and don't nessesarily remove them. T cut should get them out, but I would stick to the metallic version as it is far less aggressive than the regular version. After that I just use the same polish as on my car. Normally Turtlewax platinum precision wax.

What bike was it? Yamaha RD125LC Mk1 Year 1985/B Price paid £200 I bought this RD125LC in need of restoration. It was all there but needed some serious work. After 2 months I had a pretty nice example. Good Points. Fast (for a 125) 90mph plus Handled pretty well once on decent tyres Turned heads (Loudish micron Pipe) Very reliable Pretty decent fuel consumption - 70mpg Bad points. Didn't handle as well as my previous TZR125 Some parts tricky to find and expensive. Not strictly learner legal due to being de-restricted. Not a lot of go under 6000rpm I really enjoyed my time restoring and riding my 125LC, enough performance to burn off moast modern 125's, whist being reliable and comfortable to ride.. I also managed to make a small profit when I sold it. Those planning on using one for longer trips may wish to fit a standard exhaust as it makes the engine a bit less peaky and easier to cruise on. You could do worse than get a DT50 Yamaha to do up. They are going up in value and are pretty goods to ride, as well as being quite fast (For a Moped)

1987 Yamaha RXS100 Cost me £600 which included a second bike for spares.. I am currently on my second RXS100, the first I owned 17 years ago when I was 17. I think they are great little bikes for what they are. Good points. Faster than more modern 4 stroke 125's Easy and cheap to maintain (No engine oil to change, just keep topping the tank up) Light and easy to throw around Quite cheap to buy, and hold their value well. Will do upto 100mpg when ridden sensibly. Bad points 6V electrics poor (12v conversion easy to do and improves matters greatly) Drum front brake ok but not exceptional. Many chrome bits which rust, and look awful. Not a simple job to refurbish. You cannot take your test on it due to it not being a 125 Looks are a bit conservative. Overall a nice little bike and highly recommended as a cheap runabout or learner. Reliability is excellent and being naturally 12bhp is nicer to ride than a strangled 125, yet is still about as fast as you are legally allowed to go on L plates.
