  1. Evening all, Very happy to say I completed my CBT on Saturday! Loved the whole experience from start to finish it was so much fun. Felt really confident from the start which helped a lot. Had a bit of a wobble during my figure of 8 which the instructor corrected quickly (wasn’t tucking my knees into the tank) but apart from that it was spot on. Getting out on the road for the first time was a wild experience. At first it’s a lot to take in. Listening to your instructor, focusing on gear changes, making sure you’re smashing your observations etc. Once you relax it becomes a lot easier! If anyone’s thinking about doing it, go for it! You won’t regret it. I have my theory at the start of January then start onto my lessons after that. Super excited! I made a video explaining more details on the CBT if anyone wants some more information:
  2. Ah nice one man great to hear you’ve passed. Got mine in a couple of weeks and got my CBT certificate on Saturday! If anyones interested I did a review of the theory test preparation kit on YouTube:
  3. One of the guys I work with was telling me about this place just the other day. He used to go down there all the time when he was younger, it sounded epic! We fired up Google street view and he was shocked at how run down it had become.
  4. Hi Rob, not too far away! Do you often ride out? Would love to get involved in some bike meets/ ride outs once I’m passed.
  5. Hi all, I wanted to write a post about my experience with the DVSA’s theory test and hazard perception test kit. Long story short- it’s worth every penny and I’d highly recommend anyone preparing for their theory and hazard perception to pay for it when booking their theory. You can choose how long you want to buy it for (I chose 90 days as my theory is booked for January 4th). For the theory part it has a presentation for each area of study (group of questions) that is delivered in a way that makes the information very easy to absorb. After you have studied you move onto basically learning every question and answer in the DVSAs theory bank, again this is learnt and absorbed very easily through their learning material. For the hazard perception side they guide you through different types of hazards and what to look for on the test. On top of this they guide you on how to score top marks for every type of hazard, think of it as hitting the “sweet spot” when you click. I started using this around 3 weeks ago and have finished all the study material. I have now done 5 of each test (theory questions and hazard perception) and scored 100% on every one. The tests are set out exactly the same as they are in the test centre preparing you that little bit more for the day. The best part is that I have been a car driver for 17 years and learnt a lot of new information through this (and some bits I needed a refresh on) and learnt loads about being a rider that I feel has prepared me well for my CBT and lessons after that. So yeah if you’re getting ready for your theory I’d recommend this all day long. https://www.safedrivingforlife.info/shop/official-dvsa-theory-test-kit-motorcyclists-elearning/
  6. Thanks for your input everyone, it’s really appreciated. I’m leaning towards getting a Yamaha MT-03 660cc. It ticks all the boxes for me and seems like an ideal “beginner bike”. Thank you all again for your replies, it’s given me a lot to think about moving forward.
  7. Hi everyone. I'm looking for some advice and maybe get a discussion going about good bike choices after passing my test. Eventually I want to get myself a 1000cc (or higher) sports bike, however I'm old enough (and hopefully wise) enough to know that jumping on a bike of that power straight after my test would be a death sentence. So I'm looking for suggestions on what bike and power to get straight after my test to practice my riding on and become more confident and competent as a rider before moving up to a higher powered bike. What I want to avoid is having to work up 3-4 bikes before reaching my "end goal" bike. I'd like to get something that is similar to the 600cc+ bike I'll be learning on, and something that once I make that leap to a higher powered bike won't feel like I've made that leap too soon. I'm a confident driver and I believe I'll be a confident rider. As I've mentioned I'm also sensible and old enough to admit that if I need to take it step by step with bike upgrades I will, I'd just rather avoid it if possible as I don't want to have to buy and sell a bunch of bikes (I hate the hassle). My flavor of choice is sports bikes so suggestions in that body type is what I'm looking for. Any advice would be great. thank you.
  8. Oh nice! Do you ride out with anyone? I'd like to start finding some groups once I've passed. Thanks for the good lucks everyone.
  9. Class. Love the fact they took off in a second too- pussies.
  10. He actually said similar but with his forehead being crushed but on the next size up it was too loose on his cheeks. Definitely glad I asked as I wouldn't have had a clue they would differ so greatly. Thank you for the advice.
  11. Thanks for everyone's replies. After speaking to my friend today (who is a long term biker) he's advised that I go and try some different brands on before making a choice for fitment etc. Going to pick my boots up on Friday so I'll hold off ordering my helmet for now until I've tried a few makes and see what fits best.
  12. For me I have my CBT on 14th December and theory on 4th January. After that it’s straight onto my lessons to get my mod 1 and 2 passed. During that time I’ll be buying my gear. Aim is to have my bike by April. Super excited!
  13. Evening all, after searching for days I’ve finally found the helmet I want. Only problem is they stopped selling it years ago! Does anyone know where I can find it? It has to be brand new, not interested in anything used. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find anything (looks like it was discontinued in 2021). I really hope I can find one, if not I’ll continue to look for something else! It’s the AGV K3 SV Wow model (as far as I’m aware!)
  14. What a sight that must have been, looks class!
  15. Thanks for the welcomes and good lucks. Decided to subscribe to the DVSAs theory test preparation website, really impressed so far and learned a few things already.
  16. Evening all! New to the forum so thought I’d drop the obligatory welcome post before having a look around. I used to ride bikes when I was younger (a lot younger- when I was 16!) Since then I’ve been involved in the car scene and have owned various performance/ modified cars over the years. I still love cars and the car scene but the price hikes on everything in recent years has started to outweigh the fun of owning a performance car, which in turn has left me wanting to get back on a bike again. I’ve got my theory and CBT booked, moving straight onto getting my licence once passed. I have years of experience on the road so I’m hoping that once I’ve got the hang of the bike again it should be relatively straight forward getting my pass. Looking forward to getting to know you all and gaining any experience you have to offer.
