Go to top of a multi story and drop it, I know it's similar to gin's suggestion, but it's easier to drop than throw it! Can't guarantee that you'll be able to put it back together after, but it'll certainly split the cases, probably won't need to undo any bolts either.

weather looks ok, so all good for me! Just gotta find the pub, not been there before, plus I only have my phone as sat-nav! Still, be good to meet u all. Also gotta watch out for someone wielding green paint as someone threatened to paint my steed green a while back and I'm not sure my alarm guards me against that!

Weather permitting, I might pop along too, would be nice to put some faces to names!

Probably a distraction too, I much rather listen to engine noise whilst keeping my eyes on the road than glancing down to see what gear I'm in.

I have a gear indicator on my bike, I rarely check it though, preferring to judge the gear section by the revs or maybe it's because I'm just too lazy as I'm on a 1400 and apparently don't need to change gear.
