Mod 1 slow control problems
AndySv replied to Redeagle's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Its hard to explain as everyone has their own feeling and technique while riding but I was trying to coast when doing the right turn back into the fig 8 and the bike tends to fall as you lean when doing it too tight. go a little wider and when you turn let the clutch out some more and the bike will pull you round. I found I didn't need to use the back brake at all just used the throttle and clutch to start me off and feather the clutch in and out as needed. -
Module 2 - members test experiences
AndySv replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Module 2 at ipswich, thurs. Pass Nothing I can really say was hard about it just ride safe, do all your observations and follow road rules. my instructor had eased me into the lessons and such a great guy at explaining things so everything felt natural to do. I had originally thought I had failed due to me turning right and leaving my indicator on but I cancelled it and carried on like It hadn't happened, I hadn't caused any other road users confusion or passed any junctions so it was a minor. Also got a minor for sitting too close to a car at traffic lights. Was a great day and all I can say is if anyone is in the Southend area Passbike is probably the best school in the area! -
Module 1 - members test experiences
AndySv replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Module 1 at Erith, weds. Passed Was quite nervous when it came to do the figure of 8 as I had a bad day on one of my training days where I kept putting my foot down. Instructor told me if you feel like you need to put your foot down then let the clutch out some more and get the bike to pull you round. it worked every single time and I passed with 1 minor for going a little too fast on the emergency stop. 60kmh The part I originally thought would be hard is the swerve avoidance, No, I actually had fun doing that particular manoeuvre on my training! -
Thought id post up my SV650s Bought it a few weeks ago now but cant wait to get my test passed so I can put some miles on her. Already bought an ABM Handlebar riser kit as I'm not too keen on the riding position with clipons, I know I probably should have bought the naked version but there wasn't any in the price range that I paid for this or I didn't like the condition of them. Rather make the bike my own anyway http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/c90nutter/13501856_1338016282893947_5561222976179896040_n_zpsle6cl3w9.jpg

Mod2 ipswich any particular tricky junctions?
AndySv replied to AndySv's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Wow I didnt realise there was that many different routes I just wondered if there was anyone local to the area that found particular junctions just generally bad when they travel in their local area and then if I am directed that way I know to be extra careful. Have not done any training but I have a few years experience on 125's and been looking at a lot of videos online. I would take ride up there but I have already sold my bike and bought a Sv650 in anticipation of passing I did however take a virtual trip up there on google maps using the old public test routes, probably useless by now thou. -
is cbt enough training?
AndySv replied to daveyboy9274's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I think with the old CBT rules 2 years on 1 year off was a better incentive to get further training and pass the full test, now people retake test after test without getting further knowledge, I thought I was a decent rider because I have had years of experience on 125's but after putting in for my test and watching a few mod2 videos it has opened my eyes that I could do so much better. There is so much to it that CBT does not teach, Or maybe I just had bad instructors but I have been to a few in Kent and Essex. I knew of people who ride really badly because they don't know any different, when they retake their CBT they ride for the test, not for themselves and then back to their old ways just because they got their bit of paper. Id say the theory test should be mandatory if you wish to take the CBT, at least some of the highway code might stick unlike CBT's I have been to the instructor just tells you on the day and most of it is forgotten by the time the candidate gets on the road. maybe even limit CBT to 50cc and make the a1 licence mandatory if you want to ride a 125. -
Re test date so long away
AndySv replied to Albrynmair's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Yeah everywhere is quite booked up. I booked mine end of may and my course start date isn't till 4th july. -
I have my DAS course coming up next month, my mod1 is in Basildon and mod2 in Ipswich, now I don't know Ipswich very well but I suppose that is a good thing because I will be extra vigilant with my forward planning and observations but I was wondering if anyone knew of any particularly tricky junctions that catch even the most observant people out. Thanks.
