first time back on the bike since my dad died. it's been about 6 months now. i didn't care that it was wet, just enjoyed the ride.
if it calls for it, i'll ride in any weather. just as long as there's no chance of ice.

bloody hell, has it been that long out of action!
well, i got it fixed! after spending a great deal of time taking the thing to pieces, prodding it with a multimeter and generally swearing, i gave up, and sent it to the local bike place for sorting.
2 days later, £170 and a new rectifyer. all working. great! now, if only i can find somewhere to store it in manchester......

thanks guys. i'll have another look at it tomorrow when i get back from work. shame, i was hoping i wouldn't have to put up with the traffic tomorrow.

hi guys. sorry i havn't been around much, been a bit busy.
i do have a slight problem with the bike though. not sure if anyone knows this one, but it's worth a try...
got a new exhaust on the deuville. all nice and shiney. took long enough to get round to buying it. took the original off before my old man died. (about 2 months ago)
exhaust fitted, found the master fuse was blown. replaced it with the spare. Took it for a little test run, and all seemed dandy.
got all my gear on, started the bike, wheeled it down the path, and when i dropped the side stand to get on, it died. completely. ok, perhaps the master fuse has gone again. it had.
now every time i stick a new fuse it, it pops. i've tried loads of variations on putting the fuse in. all i can think of is that the HISS system is blowing it, or it would take out one of the other fuses.
any ideas would be really helpful, as i'm trying to get it running so i can get to work on it tomorrow. (don't like public transport.)
thanks.

i'll have to get them audited by viki first though. don't want kicking off the site just yet!

I wear one with a laptop and random other small items in it every day to work. I've never really thought about safety for it
I feel safe, comfy and confident using it on the tiger (spacious, upright riding position). Reading the above, I may look into getting a backpack made for bikes...
i have heard about computer harware actually contributing to the safty of the rider. that was a long time ago though, and was probably riding pushbikes... wouldn't say that a laptop is going to improve you safety at all. might help you slide a bite longer..

i'm wondering who laid the cable!!! that alone would explain your expensive taste in electric company! (it's about 150 miles.)
oh, the cheques in the post...

it does take time to adjust to wet weather, but the instructors should know this and trained the candidates to do it. i'm more bothered that they failed the other woman for being 1 km/h under the standard. how about introducing some leeway on these things. chances are the examiner would've passed her if she'd done everything else right

talking about 'leccy bills. the campsite i'm on has prepay meters. uses pound coins. i've got my laptop and a little radio alarm clock on it and i only stuck a quid in. on monday night. i'm sure the things broken, but i'm saying nowt!

can i stick my name on this provisionally? i'm not quite sure what i'm doing that far ahead! and i think i'll bring a camera, 'cos i don't drink and i can spend the next few weeks after embarrasing the lot of you!
-
what happened to this? is it still going, 'cos i'd be interested in this. again, date dependant.

nman,
i'm on a tiger, so it's not so easy either. the speed bit doesn't work for me, 'cos the fairing create a calm space, and the water goes down the gloves. at least it's warm water by the time it gets to my hands.
-
i got a similar problem with my heated gloves. no problem with my winter ones as they have a tie at the top of the gauntlet. the only thing i've managed to come up with it to keep our elbows lower than your hands. and i did think about using gaffa tape to seal it, but then you'd never take them off...
-
i went to a camping shop and got some nikwax stuff that goes in the washing machine with the coat. just let it drip dry and it's ready to go. i could never be bothered with respraying the coat, but it couldn't hurt.
-
just make sure all the bits are with it. £100 is a bit of a bargin, IMO.

i didn't like the heated grips. scalding hot on the palm, icy cold on the back. eventually decided to spend some decent money and got the exo2 heated gloves. pricey, but they work. got enough feel on the palms to ride properly, and i can still type when i get into work. just need to try the cheaper ways of keeping my toes warm now...

sorry, not going to be able to make it. the worst thing about it all is that i'im in manchester, but the bike is still in preston.... makes it all the harder to get out.
