  1. Let us know how you get on. I've just bought a 2009 ST recently and will be touring Ireland next week. Totally paranoid now the same thing is going happen!
  2. There's also a TPS reset procedure that seems to be a temporary fix that might be worth trying. It's very easy and explained on the thread I mentioned above
  3. Coincidentally, i just finished reading a HUGE thread on this exact issue over on F800 riders.org Many solutions to the same problem from software updates to fuel pump replace to hoses as mentioned above. You'll find the thread 2nd top of the 800s/st discussion thread. Read the whole thing. It starts from 2012 and is still going. I'm convinced you'll find the answer there. Good luck dude
  4. Same cost as OEM bottle from Motorworks
  5. But have you considered how much oil has been lost ... is the leg empty hence why no more oil ..when you get chance i would suggest checking the level . Will check tomorrow, is it ok to be a little bit low? Can you top up or just refill entirely?
  6. Thanks anyway pal, appreciate the advice
  7. On the subject of fork seals, I noticed this week I have oil on the right leg, can't afford a trip to the shop to have them replaced just now so thought I'd give the 'Sealmate' tool a try. €8 well spent, I cleaned out all the crud under the dust cover and spent 30 mins going round the seal again and again. Half a dozen bounces to reseat the seal and not a drop of oil on the leg. Had a 20 mile spin, checked again and total success! Money well spent
  8. Thanks Tim Success! Today I have learned that tapping out seized pins does not work. Absolutely smashing them out with a flattened off Phillips and a great big hammer does The bad news is that after replacing the pads I discovered the cap for the rear brake fluid reservoir has gone missing
  9. Hi all, so, trying to replace the rear pads today and the goddam caliper pin is stuck solid. Can't twist it with pliers, can't tap it using a small Phillips head screwdriver I've soaked it with WD40 but no luck Any advice for a noob?
  10. Got the keys to my new 09 F800st approx 4pm today. At approximately 4.02 the heavens opened, biblical it was with the accompanying thunder and lightning. 12 mile journey home was terrifying but I took it easy and the bike just inspired confidence. Can't stop grinning like a loon
  11. Belt was replaced at 32k km.
  12. What made you swing to the bm? Better equipped, better running costs, belt drive and the owner really knew his stuff. Very well looked after with loads of receipts etc
  13. Bought the ST Picking up on Monday.......very excited!
  14. St does indeed have ABS, heated grips, trip computer, tyre pressure sensor and 3 piece hard luggage. All for same price as the Div which really only had top box as an extra Both near identical in price and history, St has 33km compared to 25km ST 470euro FC and Div 510 euro FC I'm leaning toward the ST but had a short spin on the Div and it just felt 'right' Many thanks for the input! Much appreciated
  15. Just went to see a 2011 diversion, excellent condition and good history. Seeing a F800st tomorrow morning This would be my first big boy bike so, any opinions and things I should look out for? REALLY liked the Div and currently having to stop myself agreeing to buy. Will be 90% commuting all year round but like to do the odd weekend away Thanks in advance
  16. Finally got some time to check this out. 2.5 hrs after stripping all the fairings off and destroying half the tabs, checking every circuit I could trace and about to remove the starter motor I thought to myself, 'that connector looks a bit cruddy' . Squirt of ACF50 and 5 secs of jiggling the connector to starter motor, hey Preston, better than ever. 5 seconds! Still, you live and learn
  17. Solenoid is definitely making a click sound when I press the starter button, but it should do right?
  18. Hi All. My scooter has always started on the button until the last week or so. Now,press the button and hear a click but no turnover. It starts fine using kickstart. I've just tested the battery. 12.5v with ignition off. 11.8 ignition on and when attempting to start drops to 11.7v but stays steady. Spark plug looks good. I'm thinking battery and plug are fine so maybe the switch? Starter motor? I'm not very mechanical and don't know how to diagnose this, any advice would be very welcome. Thanks
  19. Had a very similar problem with 2stroke scooter. A new spark plug did wonders. Still don't know the root cause of the fouled plug but 2months later everything is fine. 7quid fix.
