  1. it was bought for fuel economy and commuting. The plan is to pass my test within the year, ride for 2 more years then the bikes paid for and I can buy a sports bike with the cash i'm saving not putting fuel in the car. Looking at a 6k saving on fuel cost over 3 years, which is my deposit for a new one
  2. there's also an iPhone version of tomtom due out so thinking I could use the givi case for the iPhone eventually.
  3. Decided to order a Givi S850 and see how I get on with it.
  4. Think I'll probably go for the colour matched Yamaha one, spent a fortune already the last few weeks so whats a few more quid!
  5. Anyone know if a screen "http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/accessories/acc_overview.jsp#MC+Acc/125CC/YBR125" would help reduce the amount of wind hitting me in the chest?
  6. Yeah, looks like they've only tested the iphone with the Tomtom Go series. The other thing I just realised is that it's a bluetooth headset rather than helmet set. I want to find something that would work with speakers in the helmet. Am thinking I might have to make do with a tankbag for my current Tomtom.
  7. Stu, so basically the mobile bluetooths to the satnav, assuming it has onscreen call/reject etc, and then the satnav bluetooths to the helmet?
  8. I've got a Tomtom One V3 without bluetooth, other option is the Tomtom Rider v2 with headset but it's expensive. Curious if anyone has tried the headset bluetooth with an iPhone tho? That might just about justify buying it.
  9. Been looking through all the threads about satnavs and especially the Tomtom Rider but can't justify the cost yet. I have a normal Tomtom but without headphone socket so I was just wondering if anyone else uses one that's not bike specific and how you get on without having the voice instructions?
  10. Last week I replaced the steps up to the back gate leading onto the decking with a ramp so she can get the pushchair up there
  11. Just spent 3 days building a wood canopy over an 8x6 area of decking outside the conservatory doors. The misses agreed cos as I explained I was building it so she can sit in the shade outside or on rainy summer evenings. Really tho it just happens to cover the area where I lock up my bike and with some conveniently placed coat hooks I now have somewhere to take off my wet gear and hang it to drip dry. After that it all lives in a heap on the conservatory sofa.
  12. I did my CBT week before last and the instructor insisted on a right shoulder check when leaving all roundabouts.
  13. I just bought a 30l Givi and the universal mounting plate it comes with fits a treat on the YBR125s standard rack. Cost about 40 quid from CMC, possibly cheaper online but I didn't wanna wait.

    yamaha ybr 125cc

I'm forever hitting neutral when I change up from 1st on my YBR125. It's really annoying and wasn't a problem on the schools 125 when I did my CBT. I find it's fine if I give it a good firm kick, so to speak, but still end up coasting and going nowhere fast
  15. Ended up with a 30l Givi top box after all. It just meant I had no choice but to sort all the junk in my car boot and see what I actually "need" to be carrying around... Out goes the briefcase and most of the folders There's the option of fitting an additional rear/brake light to the box... Worth it or not? Does anyone use them?
  16. It's for a Yamaha YBR125, as mentioned in my first post Might be a visit to CMC tomorrow to see what's on offer.
  17. I'll look into a box instead then, thanks for the advice, they're just so bloomin' expensive
  18. Hi all, I'm now a week into riding a bike and loving every journey. Its that bad I find myself getting up early for work and taking the long way round! Anyway I want to get a set of paniers for carrying paperwork, books, briefcase, etc., but am not sure what to even look at. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a Yamaha YBR125 with a standard rack on the back as factory fitted. I have looked at top boxes which I will consider in the future but definately want paniers for now. Can anyone point me to reasonably priced set of paniers and a mounting kit to suit my bike please? The only size consideration is that they willbe big enough to take a couple of the fatter A4 ring binders each side. Many thanks, M.
