I went out last night for a ‘wee’ spin, ended up heading into the hills. Kirkintilloch, lennoxtown, take the Crow road to Fintry, out the back of Fintry back to Lennoxtown. Seen quite a few bikers, exchanged a few nods. Any one on here? I’ve always known are loved this road, climbed all the surrounding hills and been in awe at guys and gals enjoying the curves and breathtaking views. Anyone that has done it will know the moment you take a left bend and the view to the mountains towards Loch Lomond open up. Honestly can not believe it’s actually me, given I am not a life long biker, I took the notion to sit my test and stuck with it. I highly recommend it to anyone, there is no better way to bond with my new bike

As you passed on it and loved it, why didn't you stick with it? Not a huge fan of the looks or naked bike, riding wise it was great. My CBR ticks more boxes for me, and the sound of it makes when opened up 9-10k revs more than makes up for the lower noise on the MT07. Much prefer the aesthetics of the CBR

Taking those off and replacing with the 5s completely transformed the bike

I learned and sat my tests on an MT07 and loved it. Ended up buying a cbr600f after passing. My CBR is older but an amazing machine, having to keep the revs high to be in the power band was very different from what I was used to

I’m waiting for a dry day to take the bike in to get them changed. Do not fancy riding home in the wet with shiny new tyres Never had an issue with Michelin but Pirelli are awful when new I have had the bike less than a week so my riding is less than adventurous, that should keep me safe

That sounds like an excellent life span, mine won’t be betting thrashed or tracked. This is the first time I’ve went for higher end tyres and I am excited

They are so pretty!

When we got our first bike a Kawasaki Eliminator I registered it in my name, insured and taxed it. All is well My wife then passes her CBT, gets insured and rides it as was always the plan as it’s actually her bike. I pass full licence and get a big bike, update my policy and remover the Kawasaki. My question, the bike is in my name and taxed by me but not insured. The mrs has the only policy on it but not the tax. My understanding is, It does not matter who owns the bike but I am unsure about the tax situation. The registered keeper could be changed but I don’t think is necessary, but does it matter who taxed it?

I have ordered them online but going to drop them off at the garage then take the bike up and leave it with them. Not something I want to try, the refitting the wheel and chain I really do not fancy tackling

After watching a Revzilla review and reading various websites. The 5s get glowing reviews and as I have no prior experience it comes down to best educated guess and take the leap I feel

Black circles has a 10% offer today. See photo attached, that is for 5s front and back. Allow £50 fitting and that works out just £10 more than 4s fitted

They appear to get great reviews all over, I was recommended them in two separate garages. I was just looking at the road 5s, possibly could be the answer? They are all good.. even the 2's. But.. bear in mind they are at least 6-7yrs old now and there is a reason they were replaced. There was room for improvement and so, year by year they have been. The difference between 2 and 3 was small.. just an improvement in wet grip. The big change came with the 4. improved grip and lifespan. and a much 'sportier' profile. Though as with most 'so called' sport touring tyres they are definitely aimed at riders who spend more time riding to the twisties than in the twisties. in other words they're aimed at real world riders in the UK climate who spend most of their time on the bike doing the normal commute and general riding and possibly a much longer ride/trip abroad once a year. I cannot comment on the new 5's. but as they are the latest.. if you can justify the cost to yourself then go for them. I am new to big bikes and only bought the CBR600 last week so I will not be carving any twisty roads up. I would like to get the best all rounder I can, especially in the wet as the rain is never far away in Scotland. The 5s get great reviews online without only around £25 difference from the 4s

No it doesn't. Ive had PR3 and 4 tyres and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone as quite possibly the very best tyres you can buy for year round riding. And especially where some motorway riding is concerned. Sure footed in the dry and more importantly in the wet. Each and every generation has been a marked improvement on the previous. Only go for the 2 if you cannot justify (or find) 3's 4's or 5's. They appear to get great reviews all over, I was recommended them in two separate garages. Changing away from Hondas recommended Dunlop should pose no issue? Been quoted around £270 for back and front fitted for 4s

New tyre time for the CBR It came with Dunlop’s on it, I have been recommended Michelin pilot 2’s and 4’s with the 4’s been highly recommended. There is a slight price difference but not enough to put me off. I am looking for an all rounder and especially something good in the wet as I live in Scotland Should I stick with Dunlop or move to the Michelin’s?

It is much nicer in person the shimmer in the yellow is beautiful, I will take better pictures in time. I am glad I waited and shopped around, and I was growing tired of garages. It all worked out perfect

I’ve had a few twists on the throttle and I am definitely sticking to riding like a granny until o get well used to it
