  1. Finally got bike running thank you to everyone who helped
  2. Oh and I’ve got a manual but it’s a digital version and has been photocopied so some of it is difficult to make out lol
  3. Ah I understand now thanks for replies, the cam chain has come off the cog that sits behind the alternator so I was just making sure I was doing the right thing by taking it off. Once it’s sorted I can match up the timing marks and such from there?
  4. I have removed this cover at the side and I assume what I’ve circled is the clutch and I hook the chain on behind this. I have removed the central retaining bolt but can’t get it off. Am i missing something?
  5. Hello again it’s been a while but all parts arrived and have finally got round to reassembling engine. I have installed the camshaft in place but when I pump the kickstart it doesn’t spin? Do I need to attach it to something at the bottom? I only ever took off the top end of the bike
  6. The piston appears fine and goes up and down as intended when I pump the kickstart. How much are new valves usually for these? I rang up a local bike shop today and they quoted me £50 but also looked online and saw them for sale at £15, so is the bike shop trying to rip me off or is the online one too good to be true?
  7. So I have removed the broken (and bent!) valve and the damage to the cylinder head seems to be minimal. However, the break was directly beneath the head of the valve, so a part of the valve is still stook in the disk and held in place by the two little shimmies (not sure what they’re called). Will I get away with just a new valve and new oil seal? The coils seems to be okay as well.
  8. Hi, I found the head of the valve within the cylinder head . I dont think it looked too bad and the bike cut out immediately so surely there won’t have been much time for it to wreck owt? But I’ll send some pictures tonight and you can have a judge
  9. I should also add that when I move the kick stand the piston goes up and down
  10. Do I have to remove this last part? Or does the piston look okay?
  11. How difficult a job is it to fix if I need new pistons?
  12. Yes, I think you’re right as I’ve also just noticed the back blade on the chain was not secure, which most likely caused the timing chain to slip.
  13. Hello again. So I’ve taken off the cylinder head cover and had a look. It doesn’t appear the chain has come off as it spins freely when I pump the kickstart, however the thing (I’m not sure what it’s called) I’ve circled in the picture is lose and comes off in my hand unlike the other one. Is that normal?
  14. Thanks for the manual mate
  15. I don’t but I’m sure I’ll find one online, thanks for your help if owt else goes wrong I’ll be back lol
  16. In the case that it has jumped, is it just a simple job of slipping it back on? I haven’t taken the engine off but like you say it’s worth a look this weekend.
  17. Thanks for the replies The neutral light works as intended and lights up. Is what I’ve circled in the pic the cam chain adjuster or some kind of well for the spark plug? Just curious as I recently swapped the bolt that goes in it as it fell out
  18. Bike doesn’t have a side stand switch so it’s not that, I’ll check if it’s sparking right when I get a chance. Fairly sure there was no bangs or anything like that when it cut out, I just can’t figure out why it cut out immediately after a gear change to second. However, upon further inspection it sounds as tho there could be a chain rattling somewhere.
  19. hello i have recently bought my first bike (very new to all this) and all was running well until today when upon shifting from first to second the engine cut out and will no longer start. it will also not bump start, but is turning over. the kick starter has also gone quite slack. bike is 1988 suzuki dr125, any suggestions please.
