cbt why do you need to retake it?
Jimmi_929RR replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Although i understand where you are coming from, my take on it is this: Are you a worse rider after 2 years of riding than you are after you've 1st done your CBT? I appreciate people pick up bad habits (as with any skill) but IMO experience counts for a lot. I learnt more in the 9 months of riding solo (before taking my test) than i did in the 2 hrs of riding round some cones in a car park. It's like someone else said, why aren't they making every road user take refresher courses? -
Finally found some gear
Jimmi_929RR replied to a topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I've always found 2-pieces are strange fitting compared to 1-piece. Usually on me, the jacket is too small & the trousers too big. Yet i bought a 1-piece and it fits perfect. I think (as with most clothing) certain brands are better sized than others - for example Alpinestars stuff is pretty spot on for my shape/size but Teknik is way off. PS of course i suppose you can mix 'n' match with 2-piece as you've done. -
sun glare with helmet

Tinted visor for me. I don't ride in the dark so i don't have to think about switching it over. I wear glasses so sunglasses are no good unless i wear contacts (which i don't want to) or buy some prescription sunglasses (which i don't want to do either). I tried those cheap stick on dark visor inserts but didn't like them. -
Kevlar Jeans vs. Leather Jeans?
Jimmi_929RR replied to alison's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I would say it depends on your definition of "better" as they both have good points and bad points. For example, i would say leathers offer the best protection (well they feel more robust anyway) whereas kevlar/textile stuff is more practical (more comfortable, possibly waterproof, could pass as normal jeans if required etc). It's also usually cheaper than leathers. I have both. -
I tend to use fleabay, demon tweeks, b&c express and powerbronze depending on what it is i'm after.

Great thread! PS is it me or does that 4-stroke Derbi GPR125 look absolutely fantastic in black? I'd have loved one of them when i 1st started riding! They don't know they're born these days....etc, etc

reasons to buy a bike...continued,with a twist
Jimmi_929RR replied to fazerboy's topic in Motorbike Chat
This situation actually came up for me a few years ago when i couldn't afford to run both a car and a bike. I picked the car for practical reasons (it can be used safely and comfortably all year round for me). Thankfully now I'm back to both again. I think if i lived somewhere where it was summer all year round then it would be bike, but in the UK def a car.
