  1. Cheers mate, i live in London so maybe arrogantly thought that there would be an abundance of centres providing a wide variety of times??!!
  2. Theory passed this afternoon, it's changed a lot since my car one 13 years ago. Kept day dreaming during the hazard perception then thought ' oh shit, i should be concentrating' half way through a scenario! Mod 1 Jan, there seems to be a lack of test centres and within these test centres, a lack of times and dates??
  3. I'll be taking my test on a 125cc bike which will give me the restricted a2 licence for 2 years. My question is, do i take the same mod 1 and mod 2 as those going for direct access tests or do i need to ask for an a2 test? Common sense suggests that i'd take the same test as everyone else but i want to make sure before wasting my money! Cheers
  4. I voted for all weather but have yet to ride when the weather is proper poo. So i might be a bit premature (no gags please)
  5. I'm happy with most repair/replace jobs on a car but bikes are new to me. I can't find a Haynes manual for a CBF 125, so wondered if anyone out there can explain (diagrams would be amazing)m where the oil filter is on my bike as it isn't as obviously placed as a car filter? It doesn't appear to be obvious and i dont want to just start undoing things?
  6. cheers dude, I blame it on my 2 year old son. He said to me for the first time this morning when leaving for work 'dont fall off your bike Daddy' Little shit. If he says it again, i'm taking the car.... On second thoughts, it's boring in the car!
  7. The roads had loads of water on them when coming home from work. I went over a couple of manhole covers and was amazed how much my bike moved and slid when going over them... i will be avoiding them in the future. I was at a cross junction turning left, turned left when the lights changed and BANG, i was on the floor sliding around. I was shocked at how easily the back wheel gave way. I was going definately no more than 10-15mph at the bend. i assume that i accelerated into the corner slightly and the back end gave way. No major damage (not including pride). The car full of 17 year olds behind me stopped to see if i was ok but they looked like pissing themselves at me at any moment. The Point of this message is for any tips for wet riding. I'm learning fast now i keep cocking everything up!!
  8. 2nd trip to work today. Dual carriage way with a white van man behind me (it was blue but you know what i mean). Lights turn green, i stall it and see the van slam on his brakes just in time before driving in to me. Restart pull away...... Stalled again. Lights turn red (i was at the front of the queue all the time), blue van man changes lanes and sits on my left so he doesn't get stuck behind me again. I didn't have the bottle to turn my head to look at him. My helmet spared my blushes.
  9. Past my CBT 2 weeks ago, rode my cbf 125 (brand new, good deal) to work for the first time yesterday. Got to work ok, stalled twice. I'm now massively confident for the ride home and i'm obviously the daddy of bike riding........ 9 stalls on the way home including 3 at traffic lights, 2 at roundabouts and 2 at crossroads. most of which after filtering to the front of the traffic. I daren't turn round to look at the lexus driver with pumping bass that i stalled in front of twice in a row. I felt like a penis..... Took my car to work today out of sheer embarrassment, bike again tomorrow..... watch this space!
  10. Thanks all, but still dwelling on an earlier post, box helmets are a lot cheaper than full face. I don't know what the difference is. What are your imressions?
  11. Whats the difference between a full face and box? I don't want to sacrifice quality.... I like my pretty face!!!
  12. CBT booked, loan agreed today, so i can buy my bike. Now i need your help with helmet please! I want a full face helmet that is both quality and well priced. Max of about £130ish I've looked at the shark s600 which looks the part but how good is it? Web reviews aren't all that decisive and i'm happy to have a look at what is suggested. Graphics are also important, The wife suggests that silver/grey and black looks sexy (Probably not on me though!) Therefore with the shark, something along the lines of the 'dark knight' model would be a good starting point. Thanks in advance Ian
  13. That is now what i plan to do (CBT on a 125) I'm worried that because i havent ridden a bike before, i wouldn't get through it and waste the money spent on it?
  14. Cheers Dan, appreciate the time you took to reply
  15. Cheers for that, i've been reading too. As i passed my test before 2001, this already entitles me to a full moped licence. Does that mean i can ride a 125cc bike without doing the CBT first (again there seems to be some ruling around the time i passed my driving test)?
  16. Hi all, Apologies but i have looked for the answer to this question on the internet and can't find a definite answer (not one that is easy to understand anyway) I got a full uk Car licence in December 1997 Does this mean i can ride a bike with an engine capacity up to 125cc without L plates? I think because of the date i passed my test i dont have to do a cbt for bikes upto this size? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated Ian
