  1. Ive cleaned and lubed the chain myself, not checked the tension or changed the oil, i think it was done last year, is it worth changing? (along with adjusting the chain tension if needed?)
  2. # Ive read somethin about the output shaft bearing, will check the chain tension first thing. I guess it could be normal gearbox whine as the bike runs fine, but i have nothing to compare it to so wouldnt know. Cheers
  3. Hi All After owning my fazer for about a month now (my first bike by the way) ive noticed it is very whiny, especially at low revs, as above 7k the engine note takes over. Its only when it is in gear so im assuming its gearbox/transmission related? Any fazer owners shed any light on this? is it normal? Any adjustments i can make? Cheers John
  4. As said, go to your local school and have a chat with the instructor, who will most probably give you a free assessment. Then you can reassess from that. Personally i had two days training, as recommended by my instructor, then completed my mod1 and 2. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  5. cheers, looks straight forward to change, i hope:)
  6. Thanks for the advice. upon inspection, the speedo cable was rubbing on the brake disc, which is half cut through. i moved the cable away from the disc and now the speedo is doin nothin at all. Could this be related?
  7. Hi All yesterday the speedo on my fazer went haywire, 25mph, to goin off the clock. Its still clocking miles so im unsure were to start Any tips would be much appreciated Kind Regards John
  8. Thanks for the advice lads
  9. cheers megawatt. my job for tomorrow:)
  10. sorry if its a stupid question, but how do you lower the front end?? Ive tried to find a guide but cant find anything. Cheers John
  11. good post, cheers
  12. cheers littlecat, will take everything on board
  13. really appreciate the advice so far, plenty of food for thought. im goin to invest in some crash bungs, scooped seat and install some dogbones to be sure:) is it imperative to adjust the front forks after i drop the back by two inch? also, can anyone advise on aquiring a shortened side stand? littlecat... good advice about the front brake, thats how it happened
  14. 1. im 5'7 with a short inseam(29inch) 2. sounds promising. 3. i can. but if its awkward camber i struggle. 4. my boots have quite a thick sole, but ill look into that cheers. 5. have looked into this, hence my question about fork adjustment. ill probably need to alter the side stand as well yes? 7. still gutted though thanks for the feedback John
  15. Hi All i droppped my bike this morning after only buying it yesterday, gutted as i cracked and scratched the fairing. It was only while turning the bike around but this has really dented my confidence. As im on tip toes (yes im a shortarse) my instinct is to lower the bike so ii can flat foot it. i have already arranged to have seat scooped, and along with this i am looking at lowering the bike. So, will lowering it affect the handling? will i need to adjust the forks to compensate? ive already ordered some crash protectors as im so paranoid about dropping it again. im at abit of a crossroads at the moment and seriiously thinking of selling up and getting an er5, this was my training bike and ii could handle this confidently. Any advice would be much appreciated (especially from the shortarses ) Bike is a 2002 600 fazer by the way. cheers John
