  1. Hi all, i have my mod 2 exam comming up soon and have few questions as follow: 1. my rev counter does not work, is that a fail? my speedo works 2. I currently do not wear glass for driving but was suggested by the optician to do so( he said it is not a must) so i have not yet reported the change to dvla as i am ok driving without them and sometime also wear them. my question is if i turn up without glasses and fail to read the plate and then put it on and then can read it, would that be acceptable and thus reporting the change after that ? 3.i have moved home and have not reported the change as there was not enough time to get my license back with the new address, if i pass can they also report the change at the same time ? 4. are there list of questions that they ask same as with car about the bike mechanics and etc? 5.if they give you a direction and you fail to follow it ( cant safely for instance turn right) then i think you can take an alternative route ( i was told to treat them same as sat nav) 6. any other suggestion and what to expect on the day and finally do you think this is harder or mod 1? i hope i don't come across as rude by listing my question and all answers are appreiated thanks
  2. well in case anyone had same problem in future, the rear one is easy to adjust and is a small nut just below the exhaust. The front is a pain and I haven't still got it to work, I checked the pad and they seem to be ok and plenty in there but the brake was really weak. i started by bleeding the system from the nipple on the caliper and then realised all the fluid is gone so waste of my time. i then opened the master cylinder, top it up all the way up and using the advice from hayns, i did few small brakes until i saw no more air bubble coming up in the Reservoir. I then did the nipple again while the reservoir cap was opened. Overall the brake is ok but i cannot get it to lock up which means the pressure is not enough behind the calliper. I did a bleeding again but not much difference The way I am doing my bleeding is by pressing the brake few times then hold it and then open the nipple and close the nipple. Once the nipple is close then I release the brake so It doesn’t suck any air in. Do you have to put the reservoir cap back on while bleeding or ???
  3. Hi All, my brakes are starting to loose their edge and are weak. my front brake almost has to pushed in all the way for it to brake . my rear one was adjusted in the first service( my bike is brand new) but in my opinion it has been over adjusted and thus slightest tap on the brake would lock it up. I don't know how to adjust the rear but have seen a nut and bolt at the right hand side at back which i guess is related to the rear brake , correct? in regard to front, do you think it is my pad that are gone or just need bleeding or somthing the bike has only done 600km which i wouldn't expect the pad to be gone in such short millage Thanks
  4. thanks all i am taking the exam on a 125 sym i don't think i will be joining the 10% if i ride carefully. i have got the DVLA guide to ride which explains what is required and what do you have to do which i believe tells you alot. i got the book after searching on the internet. I am also planning to get the essential riding skills from DVLA which is another good resource. they are like an instructor in my view and if i use what they teach and sense of danger and what is not good then i should be fine thanks for the advice though
  5. thanks for all posts to answer some of the questions @Big Stu, I have but there is quite a bit into it. it just shows you a brief overview of mod 1 and 2 @littlecat, i am happy to do that but then considering that I have a bike and can practice on it make me think do i really need an instructor, I am looking for an online source where it can give you a detailed overview of what is required so I don't have to get a instructor and just practice on my bike by having those points in minde @Remy, very good info, how much did you pay per hour for the training? i may do it, i don't know @davefly76, that is what the theory test said. to answer the 2nd question, i am trying to avoid further cost. my bike will be brand new so may keep it at least for 2 year and thus getting trained on a bigger bike size to learn how to control it and then take the exam can be little expense. i appreciate if you know any source or book that will give u all infos on dos and don't for the exam and what technical stuff u need to know about the bike. i remember i was asked few technical question about car such as where is the brake fluid container and ...
  6. Hi All, I have passed my CBT and have booked my theory test soon. Following that I want to do my exam on a 125cc bike thus to pass my a2 restricted test. I am 25 and should be able to move onto the das but i don't know if I can hire a bike for the test only and not pay for the full 5 day or .. course. anyways, my main questions are around the practical test and what it involves. I have read that it has two part mod 1 and 2. mod 1 is offroad and mod 2 is on road. I appreciate any advise on what are the critical/important things to do. for example coming from car, I frequently see the theory test mentioning that i need to take a final life saver look which is a look over the shoulders before turning to the intended direction. For me this was not very obvious and may have not done it. what else is a must and what the examiner will base your exam on?. obviously the ability to ride is required but what i am really asking is what are the other things and alikes of life saver look that you should do for instance i was reading the theory test and it mentioned in order to notify the pedestrian on a zebra crossing that you intend to step you will move your right arm which is strange for me. do you not normally flash ( i know this may not be legal for the test but so moving and waving the right arm) thanks
