Guest Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 HiI'm hours away from buying a second hand Varadero (2003), but it's got 33,000 miles on it.It's been really well looked after and looks in great condition, i'm just a bit worried that it's gonna end up in the knackers farm soon.Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks Quote
Chrissb6 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) Don't worry about the age or milage, look more towards how its been kept and look after. Have you ever been to a vintage rally? I've seen 1 yr old bikes that look like sheds, and i've seen 20yr old bikes with 80,000 miles looking brand new. Service records and looks go a long way. Best of luck with your choice. Mightycaz Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 My Intruder is 10 years old and is still goin fine! 17,620 miles on the clock so not too many for its age, From what I've read most Japanese V twins will run for about 150,000 miles before they start to die! Quote
Stu Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 From what I've read most Japanese V twins will run for about 150,000 miles before they start to die! really!!! i know of a few TL's out there with more then 200k on the clock and running sweet as a nut and when inspected they where in perfect condition!! it all depends how they are looked after mileage is just a number service record and recipts is what you want to be looking at Quote
Colin the Bear Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 The honda varadero 125 is much restricted so the engine is not stressed during normal riding. If it sounds ok and checks out I wouldn't be put off by 33K. It would however be a big part of the haggle on price. 6 years old and its been round the world 1.5 times mate. my offer is..........
