Petarded Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Ok with the winter months approaching I'm already finding the roads to be in a less than desirable condition. Any quickfire tips on safer riding? Especially with things like roundabouts and junctions, I'm pretty good with my distancing from the car in front for breaking distances etc. But finding I'm taking roundabouts almost excessively slow? So much so cars are clinging to my rear. I know I should ride in my comfort zone/to my ability but I'd like to not be aggravating other drivers. This is probably a popular topic so just point me in the right direction if I've missed a majorly obvious thread about it! =P Quote
techno Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I know I should ride in my comfort zone/to my ability but I'd like to not be aggravating other drivers f**k em, the answer to your question you have already given, you are riding to your ability and comfort zone basically you are learning to deal with crap conditions and it will get easier with more miles. I would rather aggravate some driver and make it home in one piece in fact when its raining you usually find they will eventually aggravate you cos they'll slow down far too much and get in your way so you get soaked more!!This kind of thing also depends on the bike but more so the tyres that you have some tyres give you no confidence ion the wet but a different tyre will feel shit hot....so just carry on and make sure you stay upright, other people will say do this and that but thats how they ride you need to sort how you do it were all different. Guest Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 stick with what feels best, get out of what is comfortable for now will lead to uncomfortable later, and how many times have we been held up by other motorists, they'll get over it.i've not been out on the bike for two months, so Saturdays ride was not my best, but had to take it slow to dial everything in.. got better with miles..(feck off Techno, I know i am considerably slower than you lot..) rennie Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I absolutely agree with the others!go at the pace you feel comfortable with!you'll probably gain confidence with experience!but! remember!, you can go too slow as many times as you like!you won't get away with going too fast many times Quote
