Guest philgale Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Understandable. I'll prob look to do a day shortly after CSS just to practice what I learn, so maybe come down then. keep me informed, you will have to come upto oulton sometime tho. there is a double TD another forum are planning.oulton on friday then over to anglesey for beers then another TD on saturday im tempted Quote
Netmeister Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 When are we talking? That sounds pretty sweet.I'm hoping to get a cheap trailer sorted come May, after that I want to try a few tracks like Oulton, Cadwell and Snett.Any tips on where to get a trailer from by the way? Quote
Guest philgale Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 get a box trailer, so much easier than just a bike trailer. i got one of these, the doors open as normal but then drop down to make a ramp...granted its not cheap but it will save an upgrade later on as you will need one.http://www.gl1800.org.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/trailer-rear.jpg Quote
Guest philgale Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 like this actually, this is minehttp://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm99/tmbf_photos/IMG_0280.jpghttp://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm99/tmbf_photos/IMG_0282.jpg Quote
Netmeister Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Problem is I have no where to store something like that. The reason I'm going for a trailer is because I can put it down the side of the house. A foldable one would be great, but are pretty pricey. Quote
chris128 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I think I would be interested in doing something like this, but I think I'll wait to hear your review of it in May first as it is a lot of money especially considering its not even completely one on one training all day from what I have read on the website:You will be assigned a fully qualified Riding Coach for the whole day and he works with you one to one during a session although he has two other students to service too. PS - bit random but here is a nice little video with Valentino Rossi showing a few basic track riding tips http://www.ebike-ridingtips.co.uk/video.php Quote
Netmeister Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 Expect a full report Chris.I only expect good things from this school. I'm not the type of person to pay money out on a whim and did PLENTY of research into all the different riding schools and training methods before shelling out.I think I'll end up doing level 2 later in the year if I get the bonus I'm expecting in June, maybe you can come and do level 1 then? We'll see... Quote
chris128 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Well yeah if you say its really worth the money and I havent got bored of track riding by then, I'd probably be up for that Quote
Netmeister Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 and I havent got bored of track riding by then I seriously doubt that Quote
chris128 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 same here haha maybe I should rephrase that to "if I can still afford it" Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 same here haha maybe I should rephrase that to "if I can still afford it" thats more like it, it gets f**king expensive this track day lark iv just booked two more days so thats 6 to look forward to....on a relevant point, i will be saving up and doing this at some point. Quote
Netmeister Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 By the way Chris, not sure if you already know but Andy Ibbott who's in that Rossi vid is actually the head of the schools in the UK, and he does some of your training on the day. Quote
golach808 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 i have done level 1 at silverstone a couple of years ago. it was a real good day and i think i learned a lot. andy ibbott does all the training indoors and then you go out on track and put into practice. i think it was 5/6 sessions and he is really good, gets everyone involved and jokes around a bit to make it humouress. i always said i'd be back to do the next level but haven't yet as it is an expence, but as i was told when booking my first it's about the price of a set of leathers and you buy them for safety reasons and this course is all about safety as you learn to corner better.. Quote
chris128 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Damn I am thinking of doing this and was going to try book the same day that you are doing Netmeister but looks like they are fully booked for May 10th (got spaces on May 11th though). The only thing that I'm wondering about is whether or not I need to do a track day at Brands first before doing the school there as I dont want to be wasting time that I could be learning just finding my way around the track.. Quote
Netmeister Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 I take it you liked the DVD then? Mate it's only on the Indy track which you can lap in about a minute in the novices, you'll have it down pat in no time at all. Also, to be honest even if you done it at Cadwell you would still be learning new ways to take each corner by using reference points not just riding round and guessing like maybe you do now. If anything doing a new track would be better as you wont fall back into the way you ride a track you know. Quote
chris128 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Just noticed they have got some spaces on May 10th now... and I've got May 10th and 11th off work so I'm seriously considering doing it now. Just weighing up whether its worth missing a double at Cadwell - it will be a lot more expensive, a lot more travelling, probably less fun, but then I think I'm getting to the point now where it would be good to have some tuition so I know I'm doing things right.Need to decide quick though before they run out of spaces on either this or the cadwell track days!EDIT: Netty why do I think you are doing 10th May? I cant actually see it anywhere in this thread but I'm sure you said you were.. Quote
Netmeister Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Yes I am on the 10th May it's on the first post in this thread you numpty With regards to whether or not it's worth it, let me put it to you like this...Would you rather spend 2 days doing things wrong, or spend one day learning how to do things right? Quote
chris128 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Yes I am on the 10th May it's on the first post in this thread you numpty Ah good stuff I wish it wasnt so far away, I dont mind paying £400 but its going to end up being more like £600 with the travel/accommodation costs included.. Quote
Netmeister Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 I'm paying £600 to come see you in July so I'm sure you can make the effort Quote
Guest philgale Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Netty...see if you can pre book an instructor if you can ask for nemo met him at oulton and proper nice guy...Real name is lee but when I was speaking to him about bookin a day he just said they will understand nemo lol Quote
Guest philgale Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Is that Stinkwheel from TDR? yes mate...knows his shit Quote
Netmeister Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Ah right yeah I pm'd him the other week to see if he was gonna be there when I found out he was a CSS instructor. He didn't give any hint that you can pre book instructors, he just said I might end up with him.Might chuck another pm his way to see if I can. Quote
chris128 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 haha true... let me check my bank balance tonight and see if I can afford it. Also my dad lives about an hour away from brands so might see if I can stay there the night before - beats driving 4 hours straight there. Quote
