Guest philgale Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 riding fast on the road means feck all on track, i considered myself quite a quick road rider and at mallory on my first day i was one of the quickest out there so thought inters for oulton on my second. oh my god, it was such a quick track and i was left for dead.as you do more days you will learn more what the bike can do. last time i was at cadwell open pit lane, had fast group and inters basically together. not many people came past which i was really happy about. get it booked for next month and we will have some fun on track....look forward to the videos. chris128 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 haha yeah its still good fun though Oh and I compared one of your cadwell laps that you did in one of the videos you posted with one of mine that I filmed and you put me to shame hahaAre you in inters at the ones in March at cadwell then?EDIT: Ha I just found this picture taken yesterday of me being hunted down by a guy on a super done up scooter (he was doing over 90 mph on that thing somehow):http://trackdaydigitalimages.com/130210ngy/mediafiles/l8.jpgand this one, not sure where abouts on the the track this was though... but I look like a midget! I think I was leaning off the other side of the bike lolhttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/130210ngy/mediafiles/l15.jpg Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 not many left handers at cadwell, its probably coppice or a left hander of hall bends.what times were you doing on the videos? dont forget iv dont about 12 track days, 4 of which at cadwell. and yes im in inters for both days with my brother. Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 did you see this guy there? hes a mate of mine, was in fast group. and looks a tad damp therehttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/130210fbs/mediafiles/l75.jpg Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 quality pic this one matehttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/130210ngy/mediafiles/l207.jpgoh and tape your mirrors up, if you tape your lights up as well it wont flare up on the pics as much so you get better pics Quote
chris128 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Yeah I did see him, dont think I spoke to him though... and yeah it was soaked the majority of the time. A couple of guys in the fast group crashed in hall bends today cos it was so slippy - oh and someone crashed on the first sighting lap in the intermediate group! Delayed everything for about 40 mins while they cleaned up all the oil he left on the track, think they had to take the guy to hospital too. Sounds like he was either getting a bit carried away for a sighting lap, or something was wrong with his bike.So come on then, who's better out of you and your brother? Nice bit of sibling rivalry there?Oh and as for what times I was doing, I think the ones that I looked at from the first day were like 2:30 or something stupidly bad like that but not sure about today... video is uploading to youtube now (mostly stuff from the first day in there though cos it was too wet today) Quote
chris128 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) quality pic this one matehttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/130210ngy/mediafiles/l207.jpgoh and tape your mirrors up, if you tape your lights up as well it wont flare up on the pics as much so you get better pics ha where did you find that one, I didnt see that... is there more than one page of pics on the website or something? EDIT: Oh yeahhh I found the other pages now haha dont know how I didnt see them before! Why do you tape your mirrors up? Just to stop the glass falling out if you crash? Edited February 14, 2010 by chris128 Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 2:30 is fine mate, good times for your second TD. dont get hung up on times anyway thats what causes crashes. 2:30 is respectable since your on road tyres no warmers no track focused add ones like quick action throttle, different gearing etc etc. keep at it and your times will fall down. get the videos up and i bet you can pull 10 seconds if not more just breaking later and im quicker obviously. get booked for march and you can be the one to settle the arguments. or we have got two gopro heros coming so we can both film and work out im quicker then there are 4 pages of pics mate blind bast*rd tape mirrors up so your not looking in them, you shouldnt give a crap what behind you with mirrors out its far to tempting and dangerous to look behind you. chris128 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 haha well I might find it a bit hard to judge the two of you as I'll be about 20 bikes behind you I'm tempted to book that saturday as well now as the friday in March that I've already got booked... If I do book it then I dont know whether to go for novice or inters - I think really I should go in novice but it would be nice to be in the same group as you so that I actually knew someone on the track lol Quote
chris128 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Here's the video, the last 3 minutes is probably the most interesting bit as I was fighting with another guy and eventually got past him on chris curve (the same guy that I was right behind at the start of the video) ...but he might have just let me past as it was the last lap, I dunno. That was the most fun part of the weekend cos it was the only time when I had someone of a similar level to me (well, he was probably a bit better cos I only caught up cos he got stuck in traffic) to race against and it actually be close. Everyone else was either too fast for me or too slow for me lol I made a lot of mistakes in this video and some of my lines are terrible but I found I always seem to mess up when I'm chasing someone.. I guess its just from trying too hard to keep up.The video seems to have got quite dark as well when its been compressed by youtube :SI hope you like my little bike animation at the start hahahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsBWFEFaTrQ Oh and I timed one of the laps on this video (not a particularly good lap as I completely messed up park bend) and got 2:15 so a bit better than I thought Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 good lines there mate, need to use a bit more of the track mind especially at mansfield....times are really good, i think you will be ok in inters next time, just dont get frustrated if people blow past you coz chances are they need to be in fast group and are just being in inters coz they want to be the quickest on track....at 2:15 you would have more of a tussle in inters, and be a bit safer as people tend to take better and more consistent lines so you have a better idea of what other people are doing.see you in march, and ill drag you along for a bit being on track with quicker riders will always make you quicker yourself. Netmeister Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Wicked video Chris! Riding looks pretty good too I'm gonna try and get up to a northern track around summer/autumn time probably Mallory as it's closest, if you can come along you'll have me to ride with, I too am on the borders of novice to inters so sitting around the same level.Hopefully we'll both be inter level by then and if Phil and his faster brother can come along we'll have a good few to ride with. Quote
chris128 Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 yeah mansfield is by far my worst bit of the track... I got overtaken by 3 people at once on that corner when I was in with the inters session! hahaWell I'll leave the Friday as being in the novice group then and book the saturday in inters (at least then I've had an extra days practice before going in inters) Quote

Guest philgale Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 mallory is the worst track i have done, trust me after brands (net) cadwell (chris) mallory will be a bag of shite. its good for a cheap one early on but i dont think id do it in summer when its near a ton.oh, im trying fast group at anglesey and out on track on sat with someone who is normally in fast group so will tag along with him and see how i get. and grab an instructor and get them to take me round at a pace where im comfortably in fast group.so after saturday you never know Quote
chris128 Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 damn you must be getting pretty good then does that mean you wont be in inters for the one mid March? Quote
Guest philgale Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 damn you must be getting pretty good then does that mean you wont be in inters for the one mid March? no im in inters then, see how i get on day one and if not many people come past ill look at moving up....but its a big if Quote
chris128 Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) lol yeah, well im sure I'll get a couple of sessions with you then (though I wont be able to keep up for long).Just found some more pics from the weekend have been put up I bet I thought I was nearly getting my knee down on this one hahahttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/140210ngy/mediafiles/l84.jpgAs you can see it was pretty wet...http://trackdaydigitalimages.com/140210ngy/mediafiles/l21.jpghttp://trackdaydigitalimages.com/140210ngy/mediafiles/l64.jpg Edited February 15, 2010 by chris128 Quote

Ahh ok Most probably be Cadwell then. Also wanna try Silverstone South now they have the new track layout built for bikes. Probably be quite expensive though I bet I thought I was nearly getting my knee down on this one haha Haha, I was exactly the same. I honestly thought I was millimeters away from touching down but when I got the pics back you could have parked a double decker under there. Quote
chris128 Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 haha imagine what it must feel like when you actually are leaned right over Quote
