rac bolton Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 In the process of testing my my bike i have come to the conclusion that the brakes are rubish and if i did need to stop in an emergency at any speed it would have a messy ending !I have had them checked and been told they are just that way.Is there anyway of upgrading these or do i just have to live with them ? Guest Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 If you have dial adjusters you can space them out (turn through 1 -4) so you have more travel, some fresh fluid may help, or better rated pads.. you could even go as far as changing the master cyclinder (fluid box next to the lever) for something better, Radial i believe is the way to go.. Phill_vtr Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Braided hoses and new pads may do it. Quote
rac bolton Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 I do have the dial adjusters so will try that n some new fluid. will look into somebody else changing the rest as i feel it may not be a good idea for me to it......Thanks Quote
Guest Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 fluid has a 2 year life, so its always worth changing, just make sure they're bled properly, as any air will make the lever feel squishy (tech term..lol) Quote
Mk5Centurion Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 If you have a ZZR 600 you'll have 4 pot Tockico's fitted as standard (as mine were) and they are utter garbage, soft, spongy and a pain in the a**e to bleed. There is a popular brake mod amongst owners that you can find here: http://www.zzr-international.co.uk/foru ... =13&t=1142It involves fitting 4 pot Nissin's from either a Honda Fireblade or CBR 600RR - the mounting holes are the same distance apart. I'm in the process of doing it just now...... it WILL be worth the wait!HTH Quote
