1st gear stalling?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When starting up my bike and then putting it into 1st gear it just stalls straight away? Then maybe 10 mins later after retrying to get it going another 10 times it works fine and then will probs work fine for the rest of the day. Does anyone know what could be the problem here?

My bike is 97 thundercat.

Thanks for any help

side stand switch...?

ECU thinks the stand's still down, could be the stand isn't retracting fully, give it a shot with some lube..

Thats what my initial thought was too, also check the switch its self is not loose. Also does it make a difference if the engine is warm or cold?

probably not letting the engine warm up enough

Well this is why i asked, if it was clutch sticking (which ive had problems with, fixed it now) and a cold engine it could cut out, but it does sound like the switch in the side stand. (obvious if it stalls but engine struggling first or if it instantly cuts out, like using the kill switch for example. )
