Guest Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Well;1. Provisional License (£50) - forms available from the post office2. CBT course (costs between £80-£120) - use google to find a place near you3. Insurance4. L plates5. HelmetAs satnav said, you will not be allowed the following;1. to ride a bike bigger than 125cc (or 50cc if you are 16)2. to carry passengers3. to use the motorways Quote
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 If you hold a full car licence then check to make sure you have provisional motorcycle entitlement. On the front of the photo card part of the licence at the bottom you should have (P) which gives you 50cc entitlement& on the paper part you should have (A) which gives you up to 125cc entitlement. If you have to apply for a provisional licence it will come with motorcycle provisional entitlement included. Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 As above - you can ride it for up to 2 years on L plates, once you've done your CBT and provided it's no more than 125cc. However, you'd be a fool not to plan to do some proper training and take your test; after all, the whole point of the test is to help assure your safety and competence.Find out where your nearest test centre is, and see if there's a school based nearby. Give them a call, they'll get asked questions like this all the time. You might think about protective clothing beyond just a helmet too. Personally I wouldn't want to come off any bike and slide down the road without my leathers... Quote
