choppedminx Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 HiMy son has just passed his CBT, and today rode the moped that we have been restoring for MOT, (folowing me, for directions)The route includes some 60mph roads, and as instructed by his CBT instructor he stuck to the middle of his lane, thus causing some cars to get pretty close, until they could overtake.I am quite used to riding in this position on the road, but then, I am not restricted to a top speed of 30/35mph!Is this really the best place to be for him?Your thoughts/views would be appreciated.Nick Quote
DeeJ Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Yes, it is.As you get across to the N/S, curb, then there is normally ruts which small wheels will fall into and pull the moped cloder to the curb. And also crap builds up to the curb side as cars push it over. So best to stay in middle or to the right and pull to the middle to let cars past. Thats in my experience of riding a restricted moped. klutch Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 i was also taught to stay just to the left of the middle of the lane on my cbt but with these weather conditions i havnt done so as much as the 60mph roads round here are packed with crap at the side of the road plus the smaller streets are full of potholes especially on the left hand side of the lane, may be best to go along the 60mph roads with him a few times first so he can get used to the road and maybe get used to where a few of the bad spots are located Quote
