I'm gonna have a go at servicing my K8 650 Bandit myself but I didn't get the owners manual when I bought it. I've looked everywhere but I can't find one online, the closest I got was the k8 1250 version.

Would there be many, if any differences between the 1250 and the 650 in terms of servicing?

Alternatively, if you have a spare 650 manual can I have it? :D

just the engine would be the main difference, the haynes manual for the bandit 600 and 1200 were the same, just had different sections..

will have a hunt round on google, also look at the GSXF650 as its the same engine..

haynes do a manual...

ebay are doing a CD manual...

Cheers Frankie.

Didn't think of looking for the GSXF manual, will do some more searching.

I did see that CD on ebay, but he says it's 05-08 but in 07 it changed from air to water-cooled, so I'm thinking it's probably just the air cooled version.

I have the 650 and the Haynes... I can scan in the service schedule and post it here if you want? Its all simple stuff tbh... only relatively tricky thing is the valve clearances at 14k although I'm gonna leave mine until they are noisey

Rick you'd be an absolute star if you could manage that. I did want to ask if someone would scan it, but didn't want to take the Michael!

TBH I'm chucking in the Bandit for a sports bike of some description so just want to give it the once over before it goes, and it's only done 7,500 miles so I don't need to worry about the valve clearances :)

I'll PM you my email addy. No rush though mate, do it whenever you get a spare few minutes.

if your valves are noisy it means they are opening, I'd be more worried if they are quiet as it means they are shut.

There could be big differences between the models

Suzuki have a habbit of testing various ideas out on one size in the range before putting it out to the other engine sizes.

EG the braced swing arm for the old GSX-R came out on the 750 first them migrated to the 1100

The power settings button was trialled on the thou before the 750

Thanks everyone.

Rick emailed over the checklist this morning. Cheers Rick

Next question then is where do you guys get your parts? Online, or do you have a local?

I've got a guy down the road from me who sells parts, but judging by how much he wanted for a service I might as well go down there with my paints around my ankles and a tube of KY.

You are better off with a bit of tappet noise (not too much), the clearances on bucket and shim valve adjusters close up, which means if they are a lot out of adjustment the valve will not close properly, then you run the risk of burning it out.
