Today I started to give it a service (Change oil/ oil filter and spark plugs).here is what I did:Took all fairings offTook Petrol Tank offChanged spark plugsDrained oilRemoved oil filterreplaced oil filterfilled up with oilPut petrol tank back onStart the bike on full throttle (It starts but sounds like it is running normal.. lowish rev's when usually the rev's fly up with the choke on)When I turn the choke off, it backfires and stalls.Any advise? :S Thanks. softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Sorry to sound ignorant. But what? Cracks / Being caught?I will check now and report back. Quote
Guest Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 that they're both connected. i had an issue with mine and it was the vacuum line that had been disconnected... Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Just to make sure I get this right:I connected a pipe (vacuum line?) From the Carb to the rear of the stock cock, a drain pipe to the centre of the petrol tank. Then Fuel line to side of stop cock.Do I have to do anything special via the On - Prime etc? (on the stop cock) Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 The fuel lines seems to be connected properly and I can see fuel swishing around in the filter. Quote
Guest Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 the fuel tap should be on, are all the plugs/wires seated correctly... Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 The plugs I used a T Wrench to place them in, and they went in well. (I tightened them by hand, but not over-tight). The caps are all seated properly also. (The sparkplugs also give good sparks (I tested this)) Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Just to make sure I have not put the caps back on in the wrong order.. my order is currently:Left Coil - 1, 3Right Coil - 2, 4 Quote
Guest Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 sounds right..and if they were in the wrong order it would sound like a sick harley..how long did you run it for, would it benefit from a longer run... Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 It sounds louder than usual, more gruntier. (May be the fairing is off, I dont know)I ran it for about 3 minutes on full choke, nothing but a idle sound and random backfires Quote
Guest Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 have you checked that the choke lever operates the slide on the carbs (exterior), you should see a bar move when you apply the choke, otherwise you have a snapped choke cable.... Quote
softwarez Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 /PHEWIt turns out my caps were the wrong way around! oooops!I feel like a bloody donut now.It should of been:Left - 1-4Right - 2-3Thanks Walney for the fast replies and helping me out, really appreciate it!! Quote
