you can get a bit of oil blown in to the airbox from the crank case breather

double check your oil level just to make sure its not too full

nothing to worry about if its a bit but massive amounts will be a problem!!

On most bikes there is a drain tube with a stopper somewhere, usually under the bike, pull the plug and drain it :)

Make sure you have seated air filter correctly, and tightened any fasteners you removed getting to the filter, cos if it was not tapping before you removed filter, it's something you have missed during reassembly.

re fitted the air filtrr and its all correct, started it this.morning and it wasnt making any noise, soon as the engine runs hot the noise starts again, the bikes only done 1k miles and its still under warrenty

After reading all

if it is tapping and oil level is correct - I would guess that pans (saucer) are going out - engine dying :)

tapping noise will be louder when temperature rise and when putting stress on engine - hard acceleration

as you had oil in air filter - too much oil and overloaded engine by this

Not many people knows that too much oil can cause similar damage to one done by not enough oil in the engine

Go to different garage and seek advice

Hi Mate,

The bike has only just been serviced... And the place i got it serviced has been running for 40 years so i doubt they've done a buff job. When i took the bike to the yamaha dealer he told me the noise was perfectly normal and the noise only occurs on tick over.
