Gsxr6 K1 charge problem

My mates gixxer cut out the other day.Got it bumped but kept cutting out until his battery was completely flat.Ive fully charged the battery to make sure it wasnt dead,it says its strong and will hold a charge.

Im assuming the charge system is similar to a car and uses an alternater which is the next thing to check but are there any other things to look for which could cause the battery not to charge?

took his battery down started her up.Put a muti meter across was only showing 12-13v with no lights and taking the revs to 5000.Mine reads 14+.

Now is this a alternator problem or rec/reg?How would you tell?
