ginge511 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Last 2 days the temps on my bike have started going through the roof. When i warm my bike up in the morning i start it up then go make a brew then get on when it is over 60.But these last few days when i have come back to see if it is warm enough then tempo has been mid 90's I'm like wtf, i renewed the thermostat about 6 months ago but know these are temperamental to say the least so it could of gone again? How do i test to see if it is knackered and needs renewing again? And also the engine oil burns very quickly and i have to renew it often, i think an oil seal has gone in the engine so it burns engine oil miles quicker?I've been told that it will be fine just make sure it is at the correct levels. It is low now so I'm going to top it up once it has cooled down to cold again.I've also bled the water system by unscrewing the screw on the radiator and removing then putting back the screw on the water hose pipe.Didn't do much that though.Does anyone know what else could cause it?Thanks Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 THIS IS VERY STRANGE if u gt a new thermostat on it i should think its up the blink. i take it its liquid cooled? if so i would suggest having the cooling channels (channels in the engine that coolent travels through) FLUSHED out they could be bloked. also it maybe worth checking the fule input as in how much fuels being used. as its unusual its drinking up the oil. im not an expert but thats where ide start Quote
ginge511 Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Yeah it is water cooled m8, It's an rs125.Might be this thermostat? How do i check if it is goosed or not? Quote

Roadtorque Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 most liquid cooled engines have a fan that kicks in when bike engine is up to temp. to stop it over heating,,,so could be the switch or the fan Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 if its low on oil, it will heat the water quicker... hence higher temp, faster. Quote
ginge511 Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Thought I'd say It's an rs 125 and from what i have read, these bikes do not have fans? And i just got in from work b4, was coming home took me 15 mins and when moving the temp went to 98?It's as if it is some sort of blocked as the higher i rev it the faster it seems to get hotter.
