Guest Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Hi all,Im looking to do some trackday time on my 1998 honda fireblade this season and as im having the chain and sprockets done I thort I might as well change the tyres on the bike at the same time, ive been recommended pirelli corsa 111s by my usual bike shop for the bike as good on both the road and doing the odd track day,has anyone used these and are they any good or does anyone recommend any other tyres suitable. Thanks in advance,Trev Quote
Guest Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Metzeler Racetecs stick like sh!t to a blanket, ridiculously grippy and predictable. Ace tyre. Quote

Guest philgale Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Metzeler Racetecs stick like sh!t to a blanket, ridiculously grippy and predictable. Ace tyre. agreed but would last 5 mins on the road before they are square.if you wanna do more track than road then yes race tecs or pirelli supercorsas are quality having used both.otherwise i would look at some duel compound, something like the michelin 2ct (or whatever it is) bit more durable in the middle but still soft at the sides.altho you can get supercorsas and race tecs dirt cheap if you buy race scrubs, loads on ebay for about 80 quid a set....so for that price use them on track and road and then bin them and buy another set. cheap enough to do that.... blakeatron Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 was in the same quandry as you yesterday - in the end i plumped for bridgestone battlax bt014'sa nice road tyre but with enough 'features' to make it track suitable£250 fitted Quote
Guest philgale Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 £250 fitted how much should of got some supercorsa scrubs for 60-80 quid mate.... Quote
Guest Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I have Metzeller Sportecs on the Hornet. Good tyre for on the road and great for the occassional trackday.I couldn't get the bike over any more at Mallory and the tyres never slipped a bit.http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs236.snc1/8326_1225668795074_1029653445_714746_972764_n.jpg Quote
Phill_vtr Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I have used Michelin pilot power for road use and the odd trackday, never had a problem with them at all and have total faith in them. Used them on a wet/damp day at cadwell and they performed brilliantly there too. Quote
