My zx6r has been running rough for a while now. At really low revs below 3,000 my bike really struggles to pick up but once it gets to 4000 it flys up and runs nice and smooth. Also if i accelerate up through the revs from say 5000 to 13000 it sometimes flutters in the mid range of it.

Anyway, i have been speaking to someone and he said that i might need my carbs re-balanced. I am just wondering if anyone has had the same or similar problem and what was the cause or if anyone knows anything about carb balancing and if it is a long job to do myself??

Its a 97 F3.

I only got the bike last year and i dont know the hitory of the bike. It does have a race can on it, a K&N air filter and my mechanic thinks its got a dyno jet kit fitted.

I was thinking that i should just get a dyno run done and see if they can fix the issue but didnt want to be wasting my money

a dyno run wont hurt to see how its running it will give you more of an idea

i recon your carbs could do with a clean and balance

has the bike been sat for a while? could be bad fuel too

Sorry forgot to add that the carbs have recently been cleaned during the service.

I have been riding the bike quite a bit so the fuel is ok

Atleast you are thinking like me then with the carb balancing and dyno run.

What one should i get done first? say i got a dyno done first and then carb balancing would i need another dyno run??

what sort of service was done :?

if they cleaned the carbs they should have balanced them back up as they could have knocked them out!!

doesnt matter which way round you do it to be honest you wont need another run after a balance

Well being cleaned they where more flushed through. It did make a massive difference so i assumed they where ok.

I have found a place that can do dyno runs quite close so i will give that a try first

Thanks for the replys and info
