Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 (edited) I passed my CBT last week, and have got my first "real" lesson tomorrow morning, a 2 hour session, but only on a 125 for now.A few month back, I bought a pair of Sidi Vertigo boots (red and black, http://www.harpersraceshop.co.uk/item935.htm - they are in great nick) off a car forum I frequent cos I knew I'd eventually be starting down the bike road. I didn't wear them for the CBT, just wore my mid trainers. So, what I want to know is, will I look like a tool if I turn up tomorrow with the Sidi's on?? Especially as I'm still not the most fluent rider on a bike due to having almost no previous biking experience (this is why I'm on the 125 not the 500). Bit like the bloke who turns up at the golf club with all the expensive gear, but cannot hit the ball...I'm happy enough to carry on with the trainers until I pass the full test, but would appreciate some input on this. Maybe I'd feel more comfortable if they weren't so stand out with being red...Cheers,Andy. Edited April 17, 2010 by Guest Quote
Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 People might think you look like a knob in full-on boots. They'll know you're a knob if you've got good boots but wear trainers instead. Quote

I now know I'm a knob for the original post I suppose I knew it already about the boots, just needed a kick up the @ss Thanks,Andy. Quote
Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 lol para As a novice, you are more likely to fall off.wanna fall off and crush your foot in trainers or boots?Wear the boots. don't worry what people think, its protective gear. Quote
Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 PS - I've seen what feet look like after an accident when clad only in trainers - messy Quote
chiz Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Boots, without a doubt.Might as well get used to them now, I did my lessons and tests in trainers even though I had boots (Yes Para, I know.... Knob!!!), once I passed I had to get used to riding with my boots on. Quote

Guest Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Well, I wore the Sidi's, and found it easier than with the trainers. The way the heel is, it sat my feet exactly where they should be on the pegs, whereas with the trainer soles being flat, they were all over the place on the CBT.Cheers for the advice guys.Andy. Quote
2fast2soon Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I have the same boots (although went more conservative with the colour, all black) and they're really comfy.Once you've passed your tests you'll learn that where they teach you to have your feet (heel butted up against the peg) isn't the best place for controlling the bike. It is the probably the best for training and passing the test though, so stick with it for now...Good luck with the tests. Quote
