So trying to get my 2001 CBR600f on its centre stand today, i dropped it on its right hand side.

Was pissssed, but was lucky.

Nothing "broke". Brake lever bent back and scratched buggary out of the exhaust, fairing and anything else that side.

Not worried about the exhaust as its the underside and hardly visible. Brake levers i was planning on replacing anyways.

Only problem is the bloody fairing. The decals are slightly scratched off, and the paintwork is slightly scratched.

What would you guys suggest? Ive already been on the bay looking for replacement panels, but was wondering if their was any small jobs that could be done to make it more cosmetically pleasing in the meantime.

Buffing? Taking it to a shop for a touch of black paint?

Or just forget it and buy the damn panel?

Depends how bad the damage is really (pictures ;) ). If the scratches aren't too deep then T-cutting might help a bit...but I imagine they are deep in which case there's not a lot you can do apart from touch up paint. If they're really really deep then you'll need to fill them somehow and then touch up the paint. Or.....

...do what I did last month and wait (a couple of months it has to be said!) for a panel to come up on fleabay for £15! Marvellous.

A word of warning on the levers - do not try and bend them back into place. I did, and it snapped...and gashed my thumb open! Was lucky I didn't need stitches because I was bleeding constantly for a good hour afterwards! Just get new levers as planned ;)

Did you try and bend it back cold?

I did this with my GSX and snapped it clean off

They are cast aluminium and if you want to straighten them you need to gently heat them up to stop them cracking or snapping.

Obviously if they are severly bent up then its probably not worth the effort

A lever for my GSX was £15 new comapred to £60 for the GSXR
