  1. Jeans will be fine for a CBT. What happens if you find bikings not for you and youve spent all that money on gear? There was a guy at my CBT...typical type, had full goretex bottoms on, Hi-Viz Goretex jacket, gloves, boots and a Shoei helmet. He knew the answer to every question and im sure his name was Norman....
  2. Ive been browsing for the last couple of days for a good cheap two piece leather suit. They're all much of a muchness. Went to an event the other day and saw a two piece suit, leather, for £120! Didnt buy it as i couldnt carry it on the bike as i had a pillion. Searched the net for the same brand and couldnt find it. Anybody else know a good brand or place i can get some entry level 2 pieces?
  3. I was there. Had a great day out. Even though we arrived just as the main race was finishing still had a good time and a bloody good ride.

    eck noise

Lol that made me giggle. We'll stop being unhelpful now OP.
  5. What size/type of bar end fits a CBR600F4i (2001). Ive bought some which said fitted, and they dont, and every other pair i seem to look at are the same size as the ones ive bought. Could somebody point me in the right direction? thanks
  6. Anybody got these yet? Had some fitted yesterday and went out chicken-strip destroying today. I havent got enough experience to give them a good comparison, but they seem pretty good. Held the corners well, were smooth on the straights, stable over rumble strips and white lines. Any other experiences?
  7. For my CBR600f. If youve caught my other thread im off to italy for 10 days on the bike. Would anybody recommend some good luggage i can use? Either panniers or a top box, as well as a tank bag. Thanks
  8. Gonna get me some of those then!
  9. Im not sure if the "dual compound" tyres you guys are on about are what im on about But theres a tyre which has a harder compound in the middle which takes longer to where down, and the edges are softer for good grip on corners. Get less of a squaring off effect. Am i correct or did somebody just make these up and fob me off. Could be helpful?
  10. And if you havent got goggles, put your helmet on with your visor down! If anybody asks, you think you're a power ranger!
  11. well to be fair not into standard sports bikes or anything like that i Love streetfighters naked bikes with raw power and amazing looks Buy a speed triple... Lol, sorry ill stop being unhelpful now.
  12. So trying to get my 2001 CBR600f on its centre stand today, i dropped it on its right hand side. Was pissssed, but was lucky. Nothing "broke". Brake lever bent back and scratched buggary out of the exhaust, fairing and anything else that side. Not worried about the exhaust as its the underside and hardly visible. Brake levers i was planning on replacing anyways. Only problem is the bloody fairing. The decals are slightly scratched off, and the paintwork is slightly scratched. What would you guys suggest? Ive already been on the bay looking for replacement panels, but was wondering if their was any small jobs that could be done to make it more cosmetically pleasing in the meantime. Buffing? Taking it to a shop for a touch of black paint? Or just forget it and buy the damn panel?
  13. Agree with the above...you sit on a bike and those trousers ride up quite a bit...i always go longer with motorbike trousers.
  14. Ok, maybe some of the nouns i used were harsh. I pull the clutch fully in, roll off the revs, change gear, let clutch out and start revving again. Just like every other half competent biker out there. So lets forget the riding style. No mechanically sound bike should stop you from going into gear from neutral, if the clutch is fully in and the revs are off. Can we focus on this?
  15. You shouldn't rev at the biting point, you should rev when the clutch is fully engaged. Sorry if I'm wrong but I think that's what I was taught on my CBT in Feb. You only rev at the biting point when you are going from a stand still to first. You should come off the throttle when changing gear, your first post makes it sound like you are really nasty to your bike Maybe we should swap?? Do you drive a car, I change gear more or less the same apart from 1st. vv When i say biting point i mean where the clutch is no longer active and is nearly fully out. That is when i start to roll on the throttle again. You should start to roll on the revs just before the clutch is fully disengaged, otherwise you could get jerkiness from the engine braking. And also bikes allow you to "slip the clutch" so you can rev when the clutch is only half in to get better control. Anyways. Spoke to a mechanic friend of mine. He says it sounds like a gearbox issue. He cant confirm it without taking a look so taking it down next week. He said IF it is a gearbox issue, on those bikes its probably better to get a new engine So i MAY be looking for a new bike again.
  16. Sorry i forgot to mention. Whenever i pull the clutch in i roll off the revs, and dont apply them again until the clutch is at biting point.
  17. So, say ive just come off traffic lights, im in first. I smash the throttle back, to give it some wellie, get it into high revs then pull clutch in and flick up a gear. But instead it goes into neutral. I try knocking it up again, and it just crunches, like the clutch isnt in. Again, i try knocking it back into first and it crunches again, like the clutch isnt in, but it is. I let the clutch out, pull it back in and try again and it usually works. It only happens at very high revs/speeds, at normal speeds ive never had any trouble. Is it me not smashing the gear changer up hard enough, or is their a common fault there? Its a 2004 Fazer 600.
  18. I bet my bottom dollar you find a local bike garage/dealer (not a main dealer) and theyll fit that system for £20 - £30 MAX

    Cleaning my bike

Yeah...i rarely have time to ride so i rarely bother cleaning at all...ive just bought some ACF-50 because i too was paranoid about corrosion. Let that stuff worry about the rust, while i worry about the corners! Thats what bikings about.

    Lil Hole in Exhast

Gungum! You can get it from halfords. Its a paste that hardens with heat. Hence, awesome for exhausts. I bought some last year to seal some air leakages in my link pipes. Worked a treat. Not very cosmetically pleasing though,

    Oil issue

I know this may sound silly, and may not help one bit. But reading through your thread and being able to look over the situation with clarity...it looks like the only option is.... somebody stole your oil. Lol sorry...it just seems obvious
