asharin Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) Update:Oops, upon closer inspection it appears my end can has become loose....I just checked yesterday by putting my hand by it and felt the gases escape so assumed it was just a hole...it's not Time to take it up for welding (new exhaust too expensive!)...if there is enough metal there to weld that is, as it's very rusty..despite being well treated/cleaned/kurerust over winter Ah well, not like it's a major thing...http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll68/asmodeanv/Bike/201005241353_417.jpghttp://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll68/asmodeanv/Bike/201005241353_414.jpgOriginal post: Went for a ride today, hmmm that pipe seems loud..Sure enough it's rusted through in one spot.Time for exhaust putty methinks! asharin Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 What's annoying is, can't source a replacement exhaust anywhere, aside from some £250 aftermarket jobbie (sod that) so I better hope I can fix it/get it fixed..lol Quote
Lumor_uk Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 TW125? wow glad I didn't buy one now was warned about the exhausts Quote
Voodoo Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Time for exhaust putty methinks! If you do a good job with the putty, then expect it to last for approx 2 or 3 journeys at the most! Either try and weld it (which I don't think will work) or try making something out of a coke can and jubilee clips, but I think in the long term it'll be a new exhaust or maybe a secondhand one. eastanglianbiker Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 welding it up is not to hard a job you might have to make a few plates up to make sure you are back onto good metal dont try and do it all with just one piece of plate as once you get the first iece welded on you can then form new section off of that and work along to the other end where metal is still good..............not pretty but easy cure dont arc weld it as that will just blow holes in it use a good mig welder Quote
asharin Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 TW125? wow glad I didn't buy one now was warned about the exhausts Nah Hyosung RT125, similar style though. Bikes nice, just the exhaust seems to be made of cheese, then again positioned as it is it gets ALL the road crap thrown on it from the rear wheel, hardly surprising it's gone Quote
