alison Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Nerves keep getting the better of me... in my last Mod2, I was doing fine. all goin smooth and up to speeds "businesslike" - then I stalled at a junction, got nervous, stalled again soon after, and then it was all downhill as I was so nervous about stalling again that the examiner failed me for not-making-progress. How do I stop getting so nervous in all these tests? I had the same problem in Mod1 (nerves) and my instructor says I ride just fine. I just don't test fine Quote
yorbandit Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 You putting too much pressure on yourself just think of it as another lesson with a different instructor Quote
rennie Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 you have to try to think of him/her as just another biker behind you!enjoy the ride! ride like you know you can! don't even think about them. Quote
Aaron Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I'd suggest saying out loud to yourself, inside your helmet, "easy peasy... nice and casual....". Say it to yourself now and then while riding or doing 'manouvres'. It will help slow you down and give you some breathing space. Help stop you think too much.Be cool like fonzy. Casual. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. If you stall say to yourself "nice and casual..." and calmly do what you need to do. The examiner expects a novice, so he won't mind little mistakes as long as you recover and do what's required. Quote
Rollingskies Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Yep, talk to yourself. Tell yourself you are going to enjoy the ride. If you get nervous recite out loud what you do and tell yourself how fun this is. So like, now I must check my mirrors, then indicate, check to see the indicator is actually on, good, now I need to look over my shoulder, slowing down easy easy, drop the gears, oh there is a car, down to first, clutch in, checking, off we go around the corner, turn off that indicator, check it is off, now I'm half way cool this is good.... you get the theme. I did it. Quote

Wigston or Banbury? If it was Wigston I know one of the examiners there is considered very tough. Just keep at it and you'll get it!! (unless you have passed by now of course).bathtub Quote
