mealexme Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 myscoot never wants to start unless i have been riding it for a few miles, which is no use obvously, as the first time in the morning it is started up, it has not been riden for a few miles...have charged battery up,that didnt work. also lights and horn are ok, so not the battery. How can i fix this? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 could be the starter motor starting to give up and drawing to much power from battery and hence it wont spark...........does it kick start ok (if it has one) Quote
Guest Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 also try cleaning the switch, undo the switch housing at the bars, and spray with WD40 and scrub with a toothbrush, spray again with WD40 and put back together and try. Quote

Wander if i can walk into a shop and ask to try out a battery to see? lol Quote
spunky1976 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 i had the same with the chinese 125 i had battery fully charged all switch gear clean etc in the end turned out to be the battery only found after i had dropped the battery and cracked it so had to go buy a new one. Fitted new battery and pressed button away we went. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 most bike shops will be able to test the battery for you to tell if thats the problem and i doubt very much if they would let u try a battery as when new they have no acid in them they fill it for you while you wait Quote
mealexme Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 i have seen 12v batteries from £8-£130. is this like most things, and the £8 one will be rubbish and run out in a week, orwhat? cant think why else it would be cheaper, but with something like this, i also cant see how they can perform different..EDIT: if they do perform different, what is it due to? and what is the best to get (its only for a scoot, so it doesnt need to be anything brilliant) Quote

Something like a scotter shud be ok with a battery of 5 amps , my blackbird is a 10 amp battery , and the girlfriends Hipster 125 cc is 6amp . I would pay around £25 for a reasonably decent battery .Hope this is useful . Quote
