cooper99 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi all was wondering if you could give me some pointersi have a 08 cbf600 its done about 20k or so and at high 80 plus if you hit a cats eye or a slight bump or put the front brakes on the hanlebars and the whole front end vibrates so fiercly you cant see your mirrors, its absoulty fine until you hit a sight bump or something and this triggers it, the only way to stop it is to slow back down to 70ish and it goes away, the wheel is vibrating back and forth not side to side. my first thought was steering bearings so i put new taper roller bearing on it, and it still does it the wheel bearings are ok everything is touqued down properly, i have fiddled with the preload screws on the top of my forks and this does nothing ether, the tire is in a fair condition and it was blananced properly. im thinking old fork oil??? its never been done , but im really pissed abt this now.The bike rides smooth at every other speed/gear/rpm just above 80 is, oh and it doesnt seem to happen after about 120 lol. any ideas at all guys?????Cheers Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 i'd go with old fork oil too... best to get it changed, esp as you have done the head bearing which would be my first choice..is the steering head nut nice and tight..? Quote
cooper99 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 yeah the nut is all good, maybe the fork oil, but im not sure surely it would do it alll the time if that was the case??? Quote
Guest Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 check the forks alignment and that the spindle is tight, but still think its worth changing the fork oil, if you dont know when last done... Quote
cooper99 Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 how do i check the for allingment, the oils never been done i had the bike since new.. Quote
Guest Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 haynes will give you definitive on checking alignment but checking the front wheel is 90' to the handlebars...like you did with your BMX...most likely oil if its never been done.....if it were at a set road speed i'd suggest wheel /tyre balance,or if braking only, warped discs.. cooper99 Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 Fork oil replaced still no goof guys any more ideas I'm stuck now Quote
Guest Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Think I'd be inclined to have the balance re-checked. I had a similar problem (almost unnoticeable shake going upthrough 75 - 85, but very noticeable if I hit something to set it off). I had lost a balance weight. Quote
