Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Hai people, heres the problem.Come back off holiday after 10 days, started my kawasaki ZXR 400 L2, it sounded abit different but i didnt worry too much, it was running.Got to the motorway and while doing about 70-80mph it lost power and cut out so I pulled over. Tried starting with no choke and it wouldnt start, So i tried with the choke fully open, it started and put the revs up high but then cut out again.Left it a day or two. tried starting it and it sound really loud and maybe even "blowy"So the only way i can start the bike is with the clutch open and chucking alot more fuel in.Any ideas guys and galsThanks Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Sounds to me like the carbs are blocked or something... But im a complete noob at this, and i should be ignored...Some carb cleaner in with the fuel can't hurt though! Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Has it a fuel filter? If it has, have you checked if it is clear?Checked connections of plug leads? Nothing worked loose resulting in a weak spark? Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Ill start with the simple Carb cleaner. The guy who recovered my bike said it may be an air leak, So too much air getting in, therefore needing too much fuel to start?Could this be another possibilty?Ill check those thingsThanks Quote

Stu Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 i would go for gummed up carbs as cobbz says theres not much that can go wrong on these bikes Quote
Guest akey Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Try the WD 40 trick, if that doesnt show anything up then get some Wynns carb cleaner spray, get the bike revving high and spray it directly down the carbs (follow instructions on the can). Quote
Guest Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 But im a complete noob at this, and i should be ignored... To clarify Cobbz, thats what I was laughing at, I appreciate your self deprecation !! Quote
