Guest Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hi there, The bike: '88 ZX10 b1The problem: I had a burst lower radiator hose week or so ago, big split down it. Got a new pipe sorted and went to fit it today, within 10/15 mins of idling it the pressure had built up so much that water starting pushing back out the end of it and the hose was buldging. Loosening the air bleed screw seem to do nothing, a little bit of water came out at first in tiny sprays (talking 10ml or so total) and then before long nothing was coming out, even with it completely removed. Any ideas what this might be? Water pump? Would that be causing the build up in pressure or is there something else causing both issues? Any help appreciated! B Quote
Guest Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I would think thermostat, its a simple test, using boiling water to see if it opens when immersed, been discussed on here, or google it.. Quote
Guest Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Nice one, will give that a go. Seen that test in my manual. The fan does come on though when it gets hot. Would that suggest it works? Quote
Stu Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 sounds like the stat is fine as it cuts the water feed to the rad and your rads getting hot as the fan takes the temp off the rad Quote
